I agree that we should keep it friendly here on this thread. I am pretty sure we can all share opinoins on designs and components in a positive way. Don does excellent work for a good price (or I'd build my cabs myself). The parts for my cab would have cost me about what Don charged me by the time I accounted for speakers, crossover, tweeter, tools, glue, wood, tolex, corners, casters, etc.

I traded it to Ralph so from Detroit to Maryland to NYC and then...

Glad to see it still being used! Its a great sounding cabinet!

Dude, no wonder you had neck problems;)

I'd wager it's gotta be more than 100lbs. My Henry was 105, and the LDS long throws are waaaay heavier than the swr speeks.
I could be wrong, but I bet not!

Could be but are we not men?!? Thank goodness for the rear-tilt casters. The box is still in near-mint condition. Ralph drove it across the GW bridge into NJ where it's been stowed at a co-worker's father's auto garage (makes sense, sorta). Co-worker Trich drove up to see daddy this past weekend and the rest is history.

Don't underestimate the power of networking!

When Ralph and I made the swap, he picked that cab up with one hand! I want him on my side!

It was pretty easy to move around. Tilt back casters and handle and it was tall enough so I could flop it into the back seat.

Fun gig last night with the squat 15-6 nEarful/M9. Small bar.....started very low volume and civilized for tunes like Ahead by a Century and Ventura Highway......turned up a bit in the 2nd set and got it going with stuff like Grapevine and Another Brick in the Wall....and shook the foundation for the last set ending with our medley (New Orleans is Sinking>>>Another One Bites the Dust>>>Roadhouse and back to N.O. is Sinking). Man I LOVE this cab!!!!!! The honeymoon is still happening after 2 years :-)) Thanks again, Don.

I just uploaded some live recordings onto my band's facebook page. In these recordings you can hear my LDS 15/6 in a typical band context. Singer/ 1 guitar/bass/drums.

Bass - Stambaugh J with flatwounds
Amp - Carvin BX1500 with VT Bass

The recording quality is not awesome, but adequate, as I just used a hand held recorder placed on a table about 10ft in front of the stage.

No slapping or popping just an average level bassist's fingerstyle.

I had a great gig last night, outdoor festival in a tent, with my LDS 212/horn cab and a Ashly SC-40 preamp into a bridged QSC PLX 1202, 4 string MIA Jazz. The 12's are 3012HO's and the horn is an 18 Sound XD125. Everything was pretty even across the spectrum, and I don't know why some folks think these HO's are lightweight when it comes to the bottom. I had had plenty of thud when I needed it, with a nice transition to mids. The 18 Sound horn with waveguide is very musical, especially when popping on the G string. I think this is the first horn I've ever had where I did'nt need a little compression to take the bite out of the tweeter. I had a nice growl going on my Jazz and during some slap/pop portions of songs, just the tone I love for that style. The only thing I might do is put it up on a riser of some sort to get it closer to me ears, as I found myself having to turn up towards the end of the night, when the beers started to take over with the drummer. All in all though, a very nice compromise for my heavy 215, JBL cab with tweeter. Here's a pic.

Glad its working out dude. I think the keys are the slightly big box for the ho's and the lower cross to the horn amd appropriate padding. Most horns in bass cabs are way too hot relative to the woofers.
