An epic I call "Machines". I want to see what you think it is, and then I'll reveal the intended meaning.
MACHINES
BEHEMOTH
Hear it take it's baby steps,
It treads into a bright new day.
Forget the elder ways, old man,
This warrior's here to stay.
Forget your superstition.
Forget your indecision.
Bask in our triumph of ambition,
We've more stregnth than your religion....
LEVIATHAN
The hull is plated, tried and true.
The deck will hold thousands of you.
The quarters are a palace, we should know, we built them so.
No thing of earth could sink this ship, not even God, and so...
Sail on gentle traveller,
you'll have all the peace you need.
We've engineered for safety.
Take no caution, be wild and free.
Sail on gentle traveller,
don't even think of home.
Sail on gentle traveller,
sleep as the engines moan....
DRAGON (RAINMAKER)
Look at our little wonder, the work of all our energy.
It's filled with so much promise of what the world could be.
Agent of the war's demise, restorer of the peace.
We've made an earthly miracle, our fears can finally cease.
We'll make it rain redemption.
We'll make it rain with peace.
We'll pour out power that makes Heaven shake.
We'll make our own fears cease.
As we create,
the future waits,
the armies prove their worth.
We'll compensate,
it wont' be great,
just one more fire on the earth......
OFF THE REIGNS
....It's led to so much more, than we ever thought it might.
We never meant to elevate, the slaughter of a fight.
We were consumed by our own power,
and our arrogance was shown,
when we boasted of our strength,
now it's too late to atone.
IRON JAWS
....Trapped within the jaws,
of our demon of the sea,
stuck beneath the surface,
why could we never see,
our assurance in our makings,
grew to ignorance instead,
all the power we thought we had,
went straight to our heads.
Ironic, that a piece of ice,
could take down our great ship.
listen as the hole expands,
you can hear the rivets rip.
a simple portion of creation, set in place so long ago,
is the thing that brought our power down,
Oh, how our pride will come and go.
FIRE
....We poisoned it, the fragile earth.
We burned it all, the city's dirt.
We killed so many, millions strong.
We ended lives, put out their song.
We've made it rain a thousand fold,
the cost of all our pride.
Because we thought we could do no wrong,
people vainly died.
HISTORY LESSON
Nothing we can make.
Nothing we can take.
No way we can move,
Nothing we can prove.
We're just another creature,
in a universe so vast.
Sometimes we need to shut out the song,
and stay tied to the mast.
When we say we hold the power,
we are letting down our guard.
When they built that marvelous tower,
you know it only fell from the stars.
There's more to the picture
than either you or I can see.
And when we make ourselves supreme creator,
we are as blind as we can be.
