Making Female Singer Feel Safer

Did you bother to read what I quoted?

If 7.5/1000 are incidences of violence or sexual assault, obviously actual rapes are a lower number of that.

Fact, not opinion or agenda. Not semantics.

The real numbers are bad enough, for whatever kind of violation or indignity, to men AND women, but let's not multiply the real stats by 10, 20 or 100.
Are you entitled to have me read things that you write? No? Then no, and I don’t have to. The side you’re putting yourself on here tells me enough about what you have to say on the subject.

Does that make you crazy? I hope so.

So presumptuous, and so cheap.

Such a shame that basic math, rational civil discourse, reading comprehension and critical thinking is so rare these days that it seems crazy to you!

As you wish.

damn, close this thread...bringing out a really gross side of this site
I'm not seeing what you and some others are. I'm no sure what anyone is thinking is offensive, out of line, or reason to close a thread. Seems to me things are being discussed rather maturely, for the most part.

Unless I missed something :). Which is entirely possible.

[edit] OK... lol, I just read a little more.

...Do you worry about the women you work with getting raped at work?

I work in a corporate office environment, I have plenty of women (from my department and others not) ask me to walk them to their vehicle in the parking garage. The majority of my co-workers (interdepartmentally) are women, perhaps I should have stated that up front in my post, but I don't want to count my personal anecdotes as fact...however I would say from my experience there is more concern on the women's side since zero men have asked me to do the same for them at my job.

I'm not saying the isn't sexual assault of women, but act professional. If she wants to bring someone to the audition, let her, but if she is in the group, same rules as everyone else.

I've been playing in bands about 37 years. I can think of at least 8 female musicians with whom I have played (not counting school bands, pit bands, and playing in group concerts and functions). Your concern has never been an issue. YMMV.

Your issue at work is not a concern re co-workers, but strangers in a public area.

BTW, I never claimed “obviously deep experience,” YOU used it. I claim personal experience dealing with a (ONE) fraudulent study.

Perhaps you should try quoting me where I said “things like all stats are fraud or meaningless.” Please. Copy them and post them. Oh, wait, you can’t, because I never claimed or posted anything like that. If you can’t further your point, make up what the other guy says. LOL!
Here’s what you said, verbatim: “statistics mean nothing”, “statistics are meaningless” and “many statistics are rife with fraud.” But you never claimed anything like that, right? You can go back to your previous posts and see for yourself, unless you edit them now. I can’t be bothered doing that on my phone. But it’s there for you to re-read, and before you edit them, for everyone else to read.

This thread demonstrates the many reasons why you’ve worked with so few women in music.

You said that I said “ALL” statistics are meaningless. I never said that. Here is exactly why... YOU, and I mean that generically, can never know the truth of statistics out before you. You have absolutely no way to verify the veracity or method of the statistics.

You, and this time I mean you personally, cannot vouch for the reliability of any statistics unless you participated in the study. Even then there are plenty of ways to manipulate statistics. Just like Adam Lankford’s debunked “scientific” study that place the US at a completely false place in standings of mass shootings in the world. Obama repeated this false and now debunked study.

It’s like talking to a group of scientists where some tell the truth, others lie, while others have no clue what they are talking about. YOU can’t know what is true and not true when they are talking to you.

This thread is a good example as to why I personally don’t bother with over burdening myself with how everyone feels. I don’t know how people stay sane walking on eggshells around every person they meet in order to not make them feel uncomfortable. If she’s uncomfortable, she’s uncomfortable.

The wise person takes whatever precautions are needed to safeguard one’s self.

Statistics don’t amount to a hill of beans to anybody who has been diagnosed with cancer or has been a victim of violence, physical coercion, mental abuse, or any other wrongdoing perpetrated against them.

Statistics don’t matter. People do.
