best bass I have ever playedView attachment 2906075
I just recently picked up a new G&L Tribute "Kiloton." The deal of the century--bought from a good friend who owns a mom 'n pop store with half-dozen studio/rehearsal rooms. Yeah, the Tribute series is way less expensive, but the manufacturing quality and that USA-made MGD pup competes with some of the best Fenders, MMs and Gibson EB basses I've ever played. Getting back to the topic: I loves me some maple necks. To my ears they sound a little crisper, and the one on the G&L makes slap-n-pop a breeze (although I'm mostly a R&R bassist).
