i have so enjoyed gawking at all of these beautiful instruments with maple boards! i didn't indicate 'like' on all of the posts, but i could have --- i really appreciate the maple --- thanks, all.

but, IMO: snyderz (post #42) and Ghastly (post #86) nailed the maple look with their unlined, fretless maple boards = unobstructed maple! i'd give my left thing for an unlined, fretless, maple fingerboard. maybe my right thing, too.

fun(ny)! :roflmao:

The search engine on this site is so unwieldy and hard to configure that I couldn't find anything.
i agree: the search is kind of clunky and, at times, irrelevant.

That right there is the quintessential maple board P Bass. I've got one like it although the body hasn't yellowed quite as nicely yet. Beautiful.

Thank you kind sir! I believe the lighting in which this picture was taken someone exaggerates the yellow tint a bit. It's a 2015 Am Std that has seen lots of sun, but it's not quite as yellow as the picture makes it seem.

Some nice stuff here! Most of my basses are rosewood or ebony, but I did pick up an early '70s Telecaster Bass back in the '90s that had been modded so I was able to have it refinished and Alembicized:

Then more recently I've picked up a couple MIJ Fenders - a Donald Duck Dunn Signature & one of the more recent 70s Precision Basses when they were still MIJ, which I also Alembicized and added a Baddass II that I had hanging around to complete the '70s look.
