I've gotten in a bunch of gigs now over the past few months with the LMII. I just have to say, if you haven't tried this thing out yet, you REALLY owe it to yourself to check it out. I've used alot of gear over the years, from Demeter to Eden to Thunderfunk, etc., and I haven't played through anything that blows me away like the LMII. It has the PERFECT combination of warmth and clarity. I know this is a subjective thing, but I haven't played anything this balanced. When I talk about balance I mean that it has the best of both worlds...hi-fi without ever sounding sterile, and warm without ever sounding mushy or bloomy. The closest is certainly the Thunderfunk, but the LMII has more of the hi-fi sizzle and zing available if you want it, and again it never sounds sterile or clacky.

Forget about the price, forget about the size, and forget about the weight. In the long run, tone is most important, and the LMII has it for DAYS...everything else is just gravy...

+1 all the way! Amazing sounding amp, especially for those of us who are 'stainless steel roundwound J type' players.

I still smile when I remember you coming over with your 310UL. You played the LMII for about 2 minutes solo, then we did some comparisons to the amp you were using at the time, and it was like 'thanks, gotta go before GC closes':D

Exactly! And I keep expecting that initial feeling to go away, like new car smell, but everytime I hear this amp in a mix all I can do is smile.

What's funny is this: remember when you first got the LMII? We were both skeptical about how good it would sound. I believe you basically planned on just using it around the house with that LDS 1x12 cab. Little did we know...

Hi, I just got the MarkBass bag for my SD800, and the 'BassKeeper' for strapping your bass to your cab (eliminating a stand) and I'm ready to GIG! These are both WELL designed items....the gigbag allows you to keep the head inside while playing (with specially placed holes for venting) and has backpack straps! It's like a rackbag minus the additional weight and width. MarkBass really puts a lot of thought into all their stuff IMO. With my SD800 and UL410 I'm like a highly mobile wrecking ball!

Hmmm... lets see. Things that should be included in the Little Mark Three.

1. better di (more than a few people have posted problems with it)

2. a mute switch (PLEASE!)

3. a tuner - many acoustic guitars even have these built in. A simple, effective tuner would make this amp far, far outclass any other amp in the market IMHO.

So how about it Peter Murray? Pass these onto Marco?:smug:

Anyone think of anything else for the LMIII?

My main requests would be...

1) Better DI (+1 per your reasons).. including pre post switching without having to open the darn thing up

2) Two Speakon's versus the single dual use and 1/4 inch

3) Mute switch (even though I neve use it, many do).

To make room, dump the XLR in... or if the XLR is kept in the design, then a volume control for it.

A big + 1 to these. If the impedance was in the right range, then the second input w/volume control may work in lieu of a mute switch. Dern mute switch I had on a big name amp would produce an audible 'pop' at the board. Just ranting. I'd dig a mute switch or similar. I would use multiple basses more often.

So, it looks like I'm going to be doing some gear trimming here soon, and using a LMII as my main (and possibly only) bass amp. However, I'm thinking of selling the used one I picked up here in the classifieds, and just buy a brand new one again from Guitar Center so that I have more warranty left. Anybody interested in buying a used LMII? ;)

I've got an LMII and Traveler 102P which I use in full band/studio situations and have started doing small "acoustic-type" gigs too.
I know the 102P is light, but something smaller to take on public transport would be great...
Rather than get a really small combo, what fairly cheap, small, light single-driver cab would anyone recommend? (Actually, a Traveler 1 x 10 cab - if it existed - would be perfect, but probably wouldn't be half the price of a 102P!)

I use a Bergantino HT112 and it works great with the LMII. Quite amazing. I've also heard the an Epifani 1x10 cab works well.
