Markbass Megathread PART 2

Point well taken Vic. Let's not forget the turnaround time it would take if we're trying to save money in shipping. Most of the methods are 1-2 weeks! I've been pretty fortunate never having to have any gear repaired ever. Let's hope I continue this tradition.

no different than any boutique amp repair. What's the alternative? Fender, GK and ampeg? No thanks.

We're not talking about repair time. We're talking just about shipping time, which would be in addition to repair time.

That said, I've apparently had much better luck with high-end amp repair than you have. Last time I had a boutique amp repaired, it was literally in the shop like two days at most. The only other time I've had to have one repaired (different vendor), it was in the shop one day. IME, anyway.

Right. How does that differ from any other boutique amp?
That shipping to/from Italy takes a lot longer than shipping domestically.

Jack, don't get me wrong, I'm not just trying to be argumentative with you. I'm just saying, at least IMHO, a factory-direct-only warranty with an Italian company is a deal killer for me because of the added time and expense to execute it. It must also be for lots of other folks, or the whole GC deal would be pretty much moot... but clearly it's not.

I have a very similar setup. Here's to being small and compact :)

+1 to that.
This is one of my main Rigs.
The band still cant get over how i can get louder than the guitarist.

How do you know they're going back to italy? I would assume that they would work out some kind of deal for a local repair.

They DID! That IS the GC deal!

Trust me, many of us have investigated this FULLY. If you don't get it from GC, which limits which products you can get, your warranty is directly with Markbass.it. Period. If you don't believe me, PM Peter Murray.

Also, just in case this was lost in this sub-thread, to put this all back in perspective, I DO own an LMII, but would rather have purchased an SA-450. However, the fact that the SA-450 is a factory-direct-only warranty, was a deal killer for me, so I stuck with the LMII, which was backed locally by GC.

I went to Guitar Center tonight to try out the LMII once again. I've decided that it's perfect for my needs and I love the tone. It does an amazing job of translating a generally uncolored tone of the bass used. Would it be appropriate to ask for cab recommendations in the Megathread or should I start a new thread?
