Markbass Megathread PART 3

My Bass Guy at Guitar Center told me to expect to pay at least $2K for a MoBass setup where you have at least two power amp options.

BTW, I am new to this board. I currently play through a LMII and a Traveler 210 (I don't recall the exact model number), Boss ME50B mulit pedal and two Steinberger Synapse 5-string basses, one fretted and one fretless and both strung with TI Jazz Rounds. Finger style player, I do some chording and mainly play blues, blues/rock, motown and some simple (standard) jazz tunes.

$2000 is pretty steep. Maybe the base model will be cheaper depending on what MoMark options you choose?

Otherwise, it will be out of my price range. Dang.

Not that I am aware of. From appearances, anyway, aside from the darkening of the maple board (some nice mojo), it appears the same as the new ones.

Tony, you should try one. I have wanted a 'Ray for 20 years and finally pulled the trigger. I was reading your other post about the continual search for tone, and I agree with what you said. There is something magic about Stingrays, though - they sound totally like themselves and really like the tone in my head.

Can't remember if I posted here or not - but here is my new Little Mark II - sitting on top of my 23 year old GK800RB.

I plan on A/B'ing them at some point.

When I bought the GK800RB it had the Buzz that the MarkBass has now. Went in and played through one on the floor back then and ordered it. Fast forward to now - walked in and played a floor miodel and then left with one.

Alright so here is the obligatory Pic. GK looks pretty pissed to me :D: :scowl:

What a fantastic bass, and its inherent barky midrange/sizzle pairs remarkably well with the LMII/Berg combination. Unfortunately, it's a heavy bass, as they tend to be. But not as heavy as my Yamaha and I will find a way to get used to it.

Damn, that sounded good.

I played it again last night. This time it was in a restaurant/club shaped and built like an enormous lunchbox, with concrete floors and 20' aluminum ceilings. Glass behind the floor section where we played. In other words, not a favorable acoustic situation, sounding more or less like playing in the bathroom, only way bigger. I'm not going to say that the Stingray-->LMII-->AE410 made all the problems in the room go away, but I will say that the rig still sounded great; I love that 'Ray sizzle. Highly enjoyable!

I play the same SR5/LMII rig, except i have an ampeg 410hlf (4ohm, 500W = perfect match for LMII :smug:) and a sansamp and a few other pedals in between, sounds killer!! so simple yet flexable, sounds massive for its size.

That's parallel and it sounds great too. Now back to Markbass...:D

Gigged last weekend. Put the LMII in my gigbag pocket, gigbag over my shoulder and carried my Schroeder 1210 and Hercules stand in and was ready to go. :bassist:

Does anyone know the dimension and exact specs of the Piezo tweeters used in the MarkBass 151P and Traveler 102 cabs? Those tweeters are awesome, but for some reason MarkBass didn't put that information on the website. Those

I really want to be done with buying bass cabs and amps. I've probably said that before, but just check my profile and you'll see I've tried out tons of gear. Its time to stop.

After all the money and effort I have spent trying various gear, I just dont think I can beat the MarkBass CMD121P + one Epifani UL112 as an extension cab.

It sounds awesome. Super punchy, not overly zingy or trebly with my bass (p bass with flats) yet still nice and thick sounding.

Its super portable. Just two 30 LB units on a dolly and my bass and I'm ready to roll. Dont have to deal with another unit since the amp is integrated into the combo.

If I need more I'll substitute my UL115 for the UL112. Not going to happen that often though. My band is not that loud and anything needing more volume will have PA support supplied. I played a gig the other night in a large-ish pub with this rig and the master vol was b/n 9:00- 9:30 and it was LOUD and very full sounding.

Time to start spending my money on other stuff.
