I really don't travel for a living at all, and I'm certainly no pro player. This instrument will go with me when I visit friends, go on vacation, and generally just have time to waste and a full-sized instrument would be awkward and most certainly left home. In any case, it's pretty captivating!
It may be elsewhere in this thread but besides body shape, what are the differences between the Comodous, Patriot, and Viking ?

I know Vikings are larger. Slogans are the smallest and similar to the patriots.
Here’s a Slogan compared to P-bass & Rick 4003. I believe the Patriot is almost the same…

I do know that the Viking has a bigger body than the Patriot.

“Ok, so woods vary in weight and all will be very similar but the Patriot will weight the most, Viking will be similar to the partriot but perhaps slightly less weight, and the Comodous will be the lightest. They all have identical headstock shapes. All have identical tuners and bridges, knob placement and controls, and preamps, however the differences are as follows. First I will mention that all 3 have Swamp Ash bodies, and identical scale length at 34.25" and 20" fretboard radius.
Differences are as follows:
Patriot: Flamed Maple top. 5-ply Wenge/Purpleheart neck. Pau Ferro fretboard. Aquilar DCB pickups.
Comodous: Eye Polar Burl top. 9-ply Maple/Mahogany neck. Pau Ferro fretboard. Aquilar DCB pickups.
Viking: Ash top. 5-ply Wenge/Maple neck. Ebony fretboard. Mayones Velvetrone pickups.
So as you can see there are differences to consider!”
Nice! I like the viking body shape more but the patriot looks niiiiiice and sounds incredible
Yeah both are great, I went for the Patriot since the body is smaller. Other than that, the neck dimensions are identical. The color fade on the Viking is pretty cool too.

I ended up talking to a nice guy named Fernando at Pitbull Audio. I didn't see your recommendation @JimS until now but I saved Sebastapol's info also
I'm looking into ordering a 30" short scale Comodous since they recently started offering that model in short scale. Hoping not to be to shocked by the price when the dealer gets back to me. I was already told it would be a 16-18 month wait for most custom orders.
Yeah, unfortunately that might even be too low a guestimate. They are quite successful and as long as they are not cutting corners (and as a customer, we certainly don't want that), their waiting times are approaching 2 years now. Which requires a LOT of patience...
(I got my Jabba HF 4 via a dealer who had ordered it around early 2022, and it finally arrived at my place in June 2023)
I ordered July 2023 and was told my both Mayones and Sebastapol ~ 12 mos for basses, a bit more for guitars.
(Spector USA is about 15 mos and Sadowsky NYC 12 mos or more.)
