He has spouted off some racial stuff before. He was on the dole while fighting professionally which irks some folks as well. I'm sure there are some more things but I don't follow professional fighting close enough these days.

On the note of the fight, it will be a joke. If Mayweather loses, it is a work to sell the next fight. The fact of it is, however, that Mayweather is not going to book a fight that will tarnish his reputation and this fight will potentially be one of the easiest (and highest paying) of his professional boxing career.

For the third time this week, Conor McGregor is under fire on social media for comments viewed as racially insensitive as he tries to provoke Floyd Mayweather Jr. during their "Money Fight" world tour.

At each of the first two stops of the tour promoting the Aug. 26 fight — Tuesday in Los Angeles and Wednesday in Toronto — McGregor told Mayweather to, "Dance for me, boy."

McGregor's latest comment came during an interview conducted by Jimmy Kimmel Live's Guillermo Rodriguez that was broadcast Wednesday. Rodriguez asked McGregor who would win a fight between McGregor and Sylvester Stallone's character in Rocky III.

"Rocky III?" McGregor said. "I'm trying to remember which one was Rocky III. Was that the one in the celebrity gym? I can't remember if that's the one with the dancing monkeys or not."

Users on Twitter have speculated that McGregor was referring to a scene from the movie in which several African-American boxers were training in a gym.

Mayweather addressed racism during an interview with TMZ Sports earlier this week.

"Racism still exists, but you know, I try to take something negative and turn it into something positive," Mayweather said. "A lot of people say that Conor McGregor is racist, but I'm not worried about that."

The third stop of the four-city tour is in New York on Thursday night.

McGregor's comments this week follow other controversial moments during his UFC career.

Leading up to UFC 202 last year, McGregor referred to the the Diaz brothers as "(expletive) those cockroaches” and called Nate Diaz, his opponent, "a little cholo from the hood."

In an appearance to promote UFC 189 where he'd face Brazilian Jose Aldo, McGregor said he wanted "to turn (Aldo's) favela into a Reebok sweatshop," according to Yahoo Sports. Favela is a term for disadvantaged areas in Brazil.

McGregor could be racist; my guess is he's doing his damnedest to get in Floyd's head and that race had no bearing. He's been denigrating Floyd's literacy (or lack thereof), his tax debts, his size, his family, etc. And we KNOW Floyd is a domestic abuser of numerous women. The real rat is obvious to me.

But it wasn't just the one remark aimed at Mayweather, it's a pattern at this point. I am in no way defending Mayweather, who should probably be in jail, just saying McGregor's got his own serious issues.

Not really. You could tell CM was gassing even in round 4. He fought Diaz for 5 rounds and 25 minutes and got a second wind to beat Diaz in the last round. It wasnt a matter of just his "regular mma" training not cutting it, as you suppose. They surely would have known he should have been in the BEST CONDITIONED SHAPE to have chance, but they slacked.

By the way, have you boxed or done MMA ever? I've done both.

For the record, I think FM made it last longer than he needed to so they could set up a bigger paying, more hyped rematch.

Mayweather beat McGregor fair and square, but the ref should have let him finish it, ten more seconds would have made everyone happier including McGregor.
Boxing has not gotten any less boring since the last time I had the patience to sit through a fight, watching all the fights presented tonight were hard to sit through.
Glad to see the paycheck was high, maybe the MMA purses will go up as they should.

I think the greater victory lies with McGregor, who at the very least has lead the charge to make MMA the lead combat sport.

I agree he is helping move MMA forward, the guy has been fascinating to watch, the two fights with Nate were very entertaining
I've not been able to be too interested in boxing for many many years now, kind of hard to watch after the third or forth year of MMA matches, when things got a bit more professional.
It should not be that hard for Dana White and company to get their fighters paid like boxers get paid, I know they have just as many people watching their matches.

I think you have to give mcgregor a tip of the hat for his performance. He went out trying to win and despite not having the gas and skill to hang he represented himself well. Just a couple months ago we saw Chavez jr shell up against Alvarez when he knew he was the inferior boxer. Chavez jr chose to get beat easily and avoid getting beat up so we got a pretty boring, lobsided fight where chavez just played defense. At least mcgregor was going for the win until he had nothing left.

Fingerdub is right that mcgregor has endurance issues and has had them several times before. It could be a lack of training or he has problems pacing himself. I think of mcgregor as a front runner. He looks great when he controls the fight and is ahead. When he faces adversity he seems to wilt and run out of gas fast so his gassing out could be somewhat mental. He doesn't generally trade and spat with the most elite mma athletes so I'm not sure he gets pushed in the gym the way many fighters do. So when he faces adversity in the fight it's newer to him than it probably should be.

I don't know much about MMA or boxing, but it seemed to me that if you looked at this fight in the context of a retired 40 year old vs a 29 yr old who's in the middle of his career that the fight didn't seem close at all. I mean, I'm 42 and it would take a tremendous amount of working out to get in the same overall shape as an average guy in his late twenties. Like I said I don't know boxing, but it seems almost unbelievable to me that the 40 yrs old guy looked fresh as a daisy in that fight and the young guy looked wrung out half the time.
