Looks like I'm in! This 400 is really blowing me away.

It is. So it's basically a 500W 2x12. It's more than loud enough for my 4 piece heavy rock band with two guitarists with JCM800 2x12 combos :)

Really? That's awesome and the tone has got to be super tubey. Do you think it would be the same amount of volume with the WalkAbout head into a 4 ohm 2x12 cab like the PH 2x12?

Yes, though that set up would still be @ 300 watts, the volume would still be similar due to the 2 12's. I do the same thing, but could also run my Scout 12 WITH my 2x12 for the 500 watt 3x12 set-up, but it's not really gaining anything over the head plus 2x12.

 That is such a cool rig. From the bass to the tuner. Very nice!!!

Well, bless your heart, sir! :)

I'm diggin' the rig. But if I could keep only one of the items in that picture, it would be the [Mesa Bass 400] head, no question about it. No other piece of gear has made such a profound difference for me.

Apparently it was made right across the street from the Lagunitas brewery (where they make the best IPA).

Just scored a Mesa 400+! Traded a bass I had for it, which put me in the amp for around $500!!! :hyper: Going to run it with two ampeg SVT-410he cabs, which I also found for cheap. It's been a couple of decades at least since I hauled a tube head around. But if the preliminary trial run through just one of my cabs is any indication, it's definitely going to be worth the extra "oomph" to sit this on top of the 8X10 stack! :bassist: Will post pics after the first gig with it. Welcome me back to the world of heavy heads!!!! :D

Sounds AWESOME bridged... stereo or biamped... not so much.
I just got a Mesa 1516 also, but it needs speaker work (the 10 needs to be reconed to say the least, the 15 in it now is a peavey black widow I'm gonna replace w/either an EVM-15L or an EVM-15B) so we'll see how that sounds in stereo.

When the cab is upright it's incredibly articulate, but kinda lacks lows for a 215. When I drop it on it's side port-side down, it gets ballsier.
