Mesa/Boogie Official Club Thread

I am selling my Titan V12 to fund the purchase of a Mesa 400 (not the plus!!). A potential buyer asked me if the amp had been back to the factory for upgrades/updates?? Anyone have any idea on what he is talking about, I wasn't aware that the Titan had any early issues like some of the other more recent lines. The serial number is 000040, so it is an early model. Any help on this would be appreciated.

Some of the early units had issues. Mesa stood steadfastly behind serving them, but, there ya go.
Some of the early issues exhibited no problems.
I personally went through two; the third unit has worked flawlessly, and, I'm cruel to it;)
I've heard that at first Mesa thought the problem was thermal relays, and later changed to thinking it was fuse holders. I have no direct confirmation of this.

May I ask what was the problem?

I have an export + very early model ;) It's under warranty, so I have 2 years to check it throughout.

Random shutdown and/or overheating.
There seems to be no clear timeline on which units did, or did not exhibit this.

I tested an early fathom that i got from tombowlus that was a freakin' monster.
i then ordered a carbine that failed; it was sent back for repair/update, and failed again, and then they sent me a different unit, which has been fine.

Contacted Mesa earlier. CSR was unable to clarify what work was done, but the head was indeed sent back to Cali for repairs. The service dept was pretty busy on the phones and was unreachable for comment on the subject.

I've read the whole M6 Carbine megathread and I got scared and tired ;) As soon as I get cabs I will start tests.

Do you know where can I get Mesa vintage head case and how +/- much does it cost?

And one more thing: most of you say that M6 is a head that sounds good with most cabs. I wonder if somebody paired it with Aguilar DB series cabs?

My serial number isn't too far distant from yours, and I did have an issue with the overdrive tubes; Mesa sent me two new ones under warranty (tube warranty is 6 mo), and never mentioned a "factory recal" scenario. Now within here, and on the Boogie Board, there's folks that talk of MOFSET failures, thermal protection premature tripping failures, etc. (not that they have definitive documentation or anything), but again, I don't know of any systemic engineering, Q&A or any other defects.
