The cab is a backline rental but the head is mine. I also use the Flux Drive and they sound amazing together!:)

I bet the WB sounded great with the 810. Enjoy the tour and the great tone!

I was checking out your bands webpage,cool tunes btw,and was reading some of the band bios and notice your singer was from Pennsylvania,so I decided to search a little more and seen he's from Johnstown....I live about 50 miles from there and we gig there occasionally...actually,we just played there last weekend at The Around the Corner Bar,he may know where that is. Anyways,I thought that was pretty cool that your lead vocalist is a "neighbor" of mine:D:D

Loving my setup for jazz/doubling gigs:

Takamine B10 -> WA head -> TC RS210. Fat yet articulate.
Swap to '69 P w/ Roto rounds. Woody and growly. :D


Also in rock gigs (we detune a semitone), the guitarist prefers the WA to my Thunderfunk. I do too, esp with passive P CIJ w/ Sadowsky flats. Thumpy AND clear.

I finally "get" my walkabout!
Did 3 things and now I really dig it:
1. Quiet Fan Mod
2. New pair of Jan Philips 5751 Tubes, works good with my G&L SB-2
3. Most important and took the longest.....learned how to use the freaking EQ! Man I feel kinda dumb that it took so long to figure out how to dial it in but nothing beats practice and different rooms. So many shiny knobs...must twist them all...um...no! Ha!

I'm using the old reliable Bag End S15-D/S15X-D stack. It's really cool that I can finally grove along, have fun playing and now enjoy my tone!
What a cool little amp!

My Walkabout got the call to worship this morning when the Reeves failed to launch (hummed & crackled for 2 seconds, then popped the HT fuse :rollno: ).

After a mad dash home for the Walkabout, I hooked it up, dialed the low end down a bit and proceeded to have some fun! :cool:

If the expert panel here doesn't beat them to it, Mesa Boogie can tell you... they were even able to tell my older silver face WA left the factory as a rackmount unit. I don't recall asking when though. Probably about 2009, based on the previous owners recollection.

Should be. The failure was relatively un-spectacular - no brilliant flashes or clouds of smoke. :cool:

I'm not thrilled with the idea of shipping it back to OH. I'm thinking step one will be visiting my friend with a tube tester. Even though I spotted no overt signs of failure, the output tubes are my first suspects...

I enjoyed shooting the breeze for a while with Wayne and he wouldn't let me pay for the fuses. :cool: After popping a fresh one into the Reeves and warming it up, I watched the output tubes as I flipped off standby and got a nice light show from number four to accompany the loud hum. Wonky tube, I'd say. I'm thinking that the QC guy might have had a bit too much vodka on break... ;)

And now, back to the Walkabout Channel...!

A Walkabout Scout 115 combo just came up in the used market locally. Looks like an older model, two inputs with silver face. Checking it out tomorrow before band practice. The asking price seems almost too good to be true. Any things I should be mindful of when testing the cab out? Pretty excited about the chance of picking this up!

Test the driver I s'pose. If it's an 8 ohm it should handle pretty much all the WA can throw at it.
A 4 ohm would come close I'd think too. I don't think you can easily get yr hands on the cone to press it gently- see if there's any rubbing= blown speaker. So I'd be trying it out at a good loud volume.
Check all controls move easily without crackle.

I picked up a Walkabout 15 yesterday. Took it to practice last night. Simply amazed with its performance. Was able to dial it in within a half hour. The band was also hugely impressed by the massive balls this amp has. The guitarist commented that I was loud, in a good way. He took a look at my settings and saw the master was about at 15%. His reaction was priceless.
