Actually that's my ill placed gluten free beer. It sat on the dresser behind the amp while playing. Unfortunately I did spill a beer that night, knocking it off a table with my headstock and nearly spilling it all over the guitarists pedal board. That would have been the worst! It's all a sign that we may need a larger rehearsal space.

I have a WA head and was wondering:
are there any other CABS (other than Mesa WA) that come close to its sound?

WA cabs/combos rarely come up for sale in Aus and are very exxy if they do, so no dice there.

It can be quieter and pref a little lighter - for Jazz band and big band stuff. My Roland Cube 60W combo needs upsizing. I've had my eye on a Baer cab recently for my main rig.

I haven't done the side by side, but I'd guess that a Markbass LM3 might have some overlap. And GK micro heads have gotten lots of Mesa-like sound comparisons, though the WA isn't the trademark Mesa sound.

One of my first posts on the WAMT was asking advice about how to keep guitarists from setting a brewsky on the handily flat surface of my Walkabout/Scout...

Chef's advice - "sit that chump down" (or something like that)

I can't remember who advised me to fling the beer at the perpetrator, and growl a terse warning.

I'm more a diplomatic type though... and some counseling with the bandmates squared away the ground rules about "my zone".

edit - i'm also not terribly impressed by what i've read on the cabs. it seems there might be better options from other brands in terms of price, size, and output. i'm also not sure how much of the WA/Scout mojo comes from the scout cab, so chasing that dragon might not be terribly important. however, people want what they want, and i have no idea of what can be had in that geo region. that said, i'd hazard a guess that Orange might be available, and perhaps one of their isobaric 212 cabs might be similar.

edit - i'm also not terribly impressed by what i've read on the cabs. it seems there might be better options from other brands in terms of price, size, and output. i'm also not sure how much of the WA/Scout mojo comes from the scout cab, so chasing that dragon might not be terribly important. however, people want what they want, and i have no idea of what can be had in that geo region. that said, i'd hazard a guess that Orange might be available, and perhaps one of their isobaric 212 cabs might be similar.

The Scout cabs are fantastic if you want a warm, vintage sound. If you want a more modern sound, then there are better options.

Any of you guys ever had a Scout cab re-covered with a different tolex or swapped out speaker grills? I have one of each, (I believe Rhino & Bronco) one with a black grill, the other with tweed.

It's so trivial in nature that I hate to even ask, but lately when I stack my two mismatched Scout cabs... well... in spite of the unbelievable sound, it just bugs the livin' crap out of me.

In Aus if go for a Bergantino CN112 or CN212 myself. But I love Berg cabs. You can get an empty Walkabout cab from Mesa or you can buy just the neo driver I think, and I do like the 8 ohm 12 Scout cab n driver, but I'd still go for the CN cabs
