Mesa Boogie Walkabout Mega-thread Part 10

I don't really have a preference... but here's what I'm dealing with visually.

I bought my WA Scout rig from another TBer who recovered his combo in wine Taurus and did a really nice job (the only thing he didn't recover is the part of the cab that holds the head in place, but no bother). Then he built a 1x12 cab to match (it has a 12, but no tweeter or passive radiator); it looks and sounds fantastic.

I didn't care much for the wicker grills, so I traded them straight across with another TBer for his black ones; I just posted in the WA Mega-thread and asked if anyone wanted to trade, and within a day or so I found someone who did. This is what it looks like now.

I'd throw it out there; I'll bet you'll find someone who'd like to trade!

I thought of that too... and for sure that's the next best thing.

Also thought of snagging a true Scout extension cab, and selling one of the combo cabs. The empty amp slot in a Scout combo cab is a darn good place to stash a cover or cables... I keep meaning to design and produce a wooden box to hold, you know - gig emergency junk. Tailor it exactly the size/shape of a Walkabout head to fit and fasten in there. I'll get on that right after I... :D

That WA/S 15 is very cool, and it sounds like you got a pretty good deal on it too. I'd love to try one sometime.

Yea I'm all for good ribbing, I think I'll like hanging in the Mesa forums, been good for a few laughs already. The price I got was pretty unbelievable... $400. It was sitting unused and neglected for I'm sure a couple of years with the dust that built up on it but a quick cleaning and it's looking good as new. Just in the process of selling my GK rig now, which I loved, but this is something else.

edward, that looks like the combo that i "re grilled" ( the wheat one) and i still have enough left over to do another.
P.M me if you want it.
its really not that hard to do you just gotta constantly check your seems.
also some materials are easier than others and fortunately the wicker is in that category.

So I just finished set up for tonight's gig. The strangest thing happened. First time using the di on the walkabout I just got used. Di was plugged into the board. Board was muted. I turned on my amp and the FOH makes an awful deep sound and the entire system shuts down and goes into 'safety' sound guy was pretty shocked as was I. Amp is working fine. Not sure about the di signal I the board yet as we are a while till sound check. Any thoughts?

I searched high and low to find a pair of Scout extension cabs. I would love to put wicker grills on them if someone wanted to trade for my black ones. My 2 cabs have slight differences in tone. One is a bit older with the player control network on the back and the other just has a horn level control. The one with the PCN has a bit snappier and brighter tone where the older one is a bit warmer and thumpier. Great cabs though!.

New Walkabout owner here!

Love the tone.. Does everything my SVT ever did. Just wish I had some more headroom. I'm not being able to keep up with my buddy's 4x12 marshall

Is the second scout cab gonna give me lots more headroom @ 2ohms?

I run my 4 ohm Scout 1x12 combo with a 1x12 8 ohm extension cab at a 2.67 ohm load with no problems whatsoever—lots of guys do. And with the two cabs, I also keep up with 2 Marshall half stacks, no problem.
