Guys -- I just scored this custom covered wine lizard WA15 and matching Ext 15 on CL. More than I need but it looks cool. Will I be happy?

HOLY MOLY!!!! that is absolutely GORGEOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

All this walkabout talk has me wanting that head I traded to stingray56 back:)..I def will be looking for another one down the road..WITH the bronco headcase...and maybe a PH12 or old diesel 15...

I currently have a TF550b which I like for clean tone and to run with pedals...but I find I engage my tonehammer a lot to add some more character...makes me consider trading it for some mesa love...

Ideally I would like to have two setups..one for a more tubey tone and one faster and cleaner..

question:
1. Is the mesa equivalent of the TF550 the m6/m9? Chef...I know you used to have TF gear..how does it compare to the carbine line?

2. Is the walkabout comparable at all to the 400+ tone wise? I know it is not too much like the mpulse tonally

3. does anyone have any ideas about what Mesa is likely to do next with their bass lineup? Sure would be nice to have a walkabout in the same power as the m6/m9.

Thanks

Mark

We at BGM have been suggesting to Mesa that they make a "Walkabout9" for some time.

The TFB550 might have some more headroom, but, not tons.
The M6/9 will decimate the Walkabout for headroom, but, they sure don't have the same sonic attributes...

The Walkabout is similar to the 400+ for tone, but, not same.
I liked the 400+, but it was just too big for me to want to keep one.

yes, the tfb is much closer to the M6/9 than to the walkaobut;
though the M6/9 are much clearer, shinier, and muuuuch more headroom than the tfb.
And yes, I like having the walkabout and M9 for two very different flavors!

I've found a red-faced walkabout. What about it? Is it just older? Were there significant changes after the red one?

That's the 1st series. It sounds exactly the same as a new one, but has 2 separate instrument inputs (instead of a toggle for active-passive) and lacks an FX bypass switch. If you get crackling-clean the fx jacks with a deoxidizer-that usually solves the problem.

I love the looks too! I was just thinking that when I get the combo, I would try the head on my 210 SVT cab, and it I like it, I'd like a case for the head. I would probably get one more 210 SVT cab, and I'd be all set.

Sounds like a great, modular plan. The headcase adds about 10lbs but it also adds 2 grab handles and is way prettier than a plastic case. Plus, if you're flush and wanting to spoil yourself you can order it the custom finish of your choice.
