so it was just my piece problem ...my Fathom is repaired!... now can voltage go realy realy low...hope it will works just fine...I'm still in love with this amp
I love MESA amps (M6 and WA) well we found these amps (specialy M6) are low voltage sensitive. We have experience just with couple of 230V versions over here...well i see some other TBers has similar problem in US. Time to time they lost bottom end or volume...shame Mesa mum
Has anybody noticed a large amount of background noise with their M6? Mine is making a "swirling" sound, kind of like the sound when you hold a sea shell up to your ear. You can't hear it when you're playing, but when things are quiet its very noticable.
It makes the sound all the time, doesn't matter if my bass is plugged in or not. I tried my friend's SVT Cl head just to eliminate cable/cab/guitar possibilities and the noise was gone which tells me it's definitely the head.
I bought it brand new around three months ago.
Anyone else had the same experience?

You can do this with the top cover off; no need to reinstall...just don't reach in there and touch stuff while it's plugged in.
To remove the tube, pull up, while wobbling it in a very slight circular motion.

My M6 is as quiet as can be. That sounds odd...is your treble turned way up? It does sound like a preamp tube. Hiss seemed kinda common in the old tube amps.
No, the EQ is pretty much flat. The sound is a constant, doesn't change with EQ adjustments. It does get louder as the volume goes up.
I think this is still a unit I want. But, there are just too many of these last kinds of posts for my comfort. So, I'll just keep watching. Yeah yeah, I know the ones that work are just fine. Its the others that concern me.
Mine does this a bit too but I haven't tried a tube swap. Has anyone tried this and had this go away with a tube swap?
Grabbed a new Mesa 12ax7 from my dealer, swapped out the tubes and......................

The M6 isn't really an amp that changes a lot with different flavors of 12ax7, so "about any tube that is quiet" seems to be suitable, to my ear.
With other amps like the Mesa Walkabout/400+, various 12ax7's seems to make much more of a difference.
