Hey URSUS...you and I have very similar rigs.....M6, AE410 and I have a Fodera Emperor bolt on 5.....Ash/Maple which is just killer!!!

By the way, what kind of rack bag do you have your M6 in?

Do any of you hear more noise from the M6 when it's just "idling" than with other amps? Mine seemed kinda noisy, so I compared it to the amps I have access to now. Mine puts out considerably more hiss (not 60 Hz so much) than the LMII, Shuttle 6.0, Thunderfunk TFB 750-A, Peavey VB-2. It's loud enough that I probably wouldn't want to use it in a quiet environment, like church.

Actually, the noise level from a Shuttle is about as loud as the M6 until I turn down the master or input gain controls on the Shuttle. Then, the Shuttle is dead quiet. The M6's hiss, on the other hand, doesn't change much when I engage the mute or turn down the channel gain or master volume. It's just that constant "frying bacon" sound!

I tried changing tubes. I even tried a lower gain JAN 5751 to see if that would make a difference. (It didn't seem to.)

It sounds great! It's just noisy! What are the rest of you noticing?

Thanks!
Greg

Mine is silent when muted. If its making any noise through your speakers when in mute, then there is definitely something wrong with it- you shouldn't be passing any signal in mute- Single coil hiss is alot more noticeable than with my other amps, but I chalk that up to a wider frequency response (theres definitely alot more treble going on than in my other amps, and it goes away if I point my noisier bass the right way...).

Hey I'm not sure if this is the right forum to ask this question but here goes......As great as my Bergie AE410 cab sounds with my M6 I'm thinking of looking into getting 2 Powerhouse 2X10 - 4 ohm cabs. Has anyone ever played through them or heard them or have any comments?

I had a long talk with the designer of the M6/9 heads Friday. I may have made some headway on at least the mute as well as maybe the pre/post. Not sure about the efx loop vs master control, but we talked... oh yes... we talked... :)

. Did you also say where the hell is Cory's M6. 9 weeks as of last Friday.
I was hangin' mostly with Dan, the designer, who'd have no idea about builds and dealers and such. Randy and Doug were there, but I didn't get a chance to bring it up. It was kinda' crazy there and we were there right at the end of the day when "non-exhibitors" were being pushed out the door (almost literally). Maybe Tom did tho. If not, we can always also call Doug... to be honest, that might be better anyway. They've got so much stuff to try and keep track of at the show that note would prolly get lost anyway. Don't worry tho, we'll do what we can.
