Mesa M6 Carbine Mega-Thread Pt Deux

Update:
my unit, that had experienced one thermal shutdown, and several other non-heat related shutdowns, will be on it's way back Monday ( mesa's closed tomrrow).

The transformer worked it's way loose in transit back to Mesa (wasn't loose here) and damaged one resistor and one mosfet on the boards next to it. One relay was replaced; some other components were updated.

Apparently, the top cover and transformer retaining bolt have been tweaked to help keep it from shifting during shipping as a result of some of our TalkBass user notes I included in my return "cover letter" decribing my problems, and some of the common issues several of us have had. Mesa say they've had *NO* transformer coming loose in the field issues, only during shipping. Worth addressing anyway! They told me they added more vent holes to the top cover...

Gotta love a company that not only listens, but responds with design changes.

I'm glad to hear it's on it's way back soon. I miss it. Great tool.

Since mine is still on back order I wonder if it will have those updates as well?

I'm sure it will. Mesa is VERY good about applying these continuous improvements based on customer feedback as they build these amps through the life cycle of the product. I had an early Walkabout, and it went through 2 or 3 modifications over the first year (done at the dealer), and these 'fixes' were included in later production models. An example of this is the change on the MPulse line from active/passive dual inputs to a single input with a switch, due to problems with the jack that was not used regularly causing some issues, etc.

You are actually lucky that yours is taking a little bit, since it seems to be about a year into a Mesa product release before the spec is totally set in stone.

Cool the Chef is getting his back all fixed up:bassist:

Alan,
I just talked to Mesa Boogie yesterday and mine is going through the final "Play Test" to make sure everything is corrected. So, I should get my unit back by next week, thank goodness! I had it for about 2 weeks before I had to ship it off. By next week, it will have been at Mesa for a month. I didn't get any specifics as to what was updated, but I'm sure it's similar to what was done to yours. I'm just ready to get it back!

One thing I would like to suggest to Mesa is a "Loaner Program" for new owners that have owned the amp less than a month or so and are experiencing malfunctioning issues. I understand the reasoning in not having one, but it sure would have been nice not to have to lug that 90lb combo amp around to the last several gigs.

Naw man, it's ok.
From August to the end of March, between football freelance tv, basketball, and bandjobs, I very seldom have a weekend off.

She Who Must Be Obeyed was tryin' to git me off to a B&B this weekend:
I hadda say "I really wanna stay home and chill for the weekend, instead of driving somewhere to chill for the weekend."

Probably stupid of me to open my big yap, but, thankfully, she was real understanding and cool with me.

We'll see how that flies next weekend (VD for those of you who've forgotten), when I have both a basketball game, and a band job.

And, an M6....woo-hoo!

Just noticed today that last weekend, during yet another sub-zero weekend here in Wisconsin, I cracked one of the skid rails on the back of my M6 Carbine Combo. Couple of nasty shards now held in place with duct tape. Yes it was in the van from Saturday morning's load out until early Saturday evenings load in.

Called Mesa Customer Service to inquire about buying a replacement for it.

Talked with Kris Dilbeck for a few minutes, he looked up my registration, confirmed my mailing address, and said you're all set we'll send one out tomorrow.

I replied that I was going to use Visa and he said not necessary, there's no charge for that.

Kudos to Mesa Engineering, you all rock!

Just wanted to share the love for Mesa.

Cheers,

Mr. BEAR
