Mesa M6 Carbine Mega-Thread Pt Deux

I forget if someone has already posted about any of these cabs, but I bet that those people who like tweeterless cabs and solid state amps would like the M6 & M9 with them -- like the Berg NV610 or a Berg EX112 stack or Bag End S15-D stack.

I love my Fathom with all three of the Berg NV's - a great match up indeed. The 2x Bag End S15-D stack is a bit aggressive sounding and not quite as good of a match, but still works, and is loud as hell.

I tried the M6 with an NV610 when I purchased mine a couple months ago. It slams - great combination. The M6 has enough headroom and low end to really open up the NV610. That combination is punchy, full, and has some warmth at the same time. Very nice...

+1 (except for the PM)

For my taste and sound it pairs up wonderfully. It's got that punch and tightness in the low-mids while offering big bottom that's not muddy or unruly and the mids are present without being too aggressive or clanky (mid control flat and selector at position 2).

Up until now I've used this setup for gigs ranging from alternative to blues in 5 different rooms and I've yet to have to EQ differently. It sits very well in the mix and the sound remains balanced wether playing loud or soft and honestly, I never had the need to push the master past 9 o' clock up until now. The amp is loud and the cab is efficient.

Thanks!

Yeah, I was thinking this might be a better matchup (perhaps smoother in the upper mids) for me than an M6 and AE410.

OK seriously. Ordered 11-13-08, STILL NOT HERE!!. I know some don't want me causing a big stink here, but some other companies (Roscoe, GB, Bergantino, accugroove are a few that come to mind) actually read post comments here TB and I would certainly appreciate my voice being heard at Mesa. If this was an accugroove thread or gb thread I would probably have a few apologies with explanations by now. It pisses me off everytime I see an M6 ad (and I have seen a few since 11-13-08) knowing that they can't deliver on it. Ya the Dealer/Rep/Owner relationship thing sucks because the Reps can say "O ya that was shipped" and the dealer repeats it to the customer but the customer know it doesn't take more than a week for a package to go from Cali to Illinois. I can't call Mesa to get the scoop, they just say you'll have to talk with the rep and I don't have that information. Maybe that's the freakin' problem. In this day and with all the IT guys here on TB you think they could build a database for that info, huh? If Mcdonald's can track how long you wait at the drive through you think Mesa could track how long a customer has been waiting. C'mon Mesa what's the deal?

OH MY!!!! I really thought you'd have it by now!!!!

Dude!!!!

I'm gonna' make a call... I can't promise anything, but this is insane... I gotta' at least try.

What really ticks me off about this whole thing is it was just a big logistical hit Mesa took on a parts supply thing, which really shoulda' been no big deal, but it just apparently snowballed on them. It's actually totally not their fault at all, but then again, it's no yours, either, so nobody wins. Everybody gets hurt. That SUCKS!

Man, I really want you to get your hands on that head so I can hear your first thoughts on it as well. You wanna' borrow mine for a while? Seriously!

Vic,

Dude your fast. Just got the call. It's here. OK I was going to remove my rant post, but I think I will leave it. It's something that should be addressed and definetely seperates mediocre CS with great CS.

LOL!

I wish I could take credit, but to be honest, I was about to call when I saw your post... I hadn't had the chance yet. I've been super busy today, plus noting the time diff and all. :)

Mine arrived today. I got home, plugged it into my Genz Benz NEOX-212T cabinet, and... holy geez, this thing sounds incredible! The "Pull Deep" really makes the cab rumble, similar in effect to my GBE-1200's LF Extend filter. One thing that I'm noticing is that I still get significant hiss from my tweeter with the mute engaged and that flipping to "Active" cuts out a ton of high end. Anyone else agree? Again, this is at (relative to the master knob) very low volume levels.

Something that I find interesting is that I have a 700RB-II and can get it to sound (to my ear) exactly like the Mesa, only with less signal noise. It is a tone that I love, but I didn't think they would sound so alike. I have not yet tried the GK at practice and will be taking the Mesa tonight, so there could be some differences in that setting.

So far... :hyper:

As a matter of principle, I only use active inputs "if the amp makes me." In other words, the active bass is maliciously overdriving the input stage of the amp. I agree that you're losing something there, running thru the active input; or, at least I hear that same as you do.

The "pull deep" also adds some high end.
I like to engage the pull/deep feature, and then roll some bass back out. I like the extra top end clarity it imparts.

I've been using this in conjunction with preset two, which adds some highs and lows. Add the pull deep, roll the bass off, and you've got a really lively, sorta-flat thing going on.
