Canadian Metal Head here. I used to book underground metal shows and I've heard it all. cookie monster, pig sueal, emo trying to pass themselves off as metal. it was bad. My personal choice is power metal (yeah I can hear the criticisms now!) I love the thundering bass, the big riffs, and wicked solos, with that powerful voice just cutting over the top. some of my favourites are:

Blind Guardian
Iron Maiden
Edguy
Avantasia
Iced Earth
Dragonforce
Sonata Arctica
Epica
etc.

I also play in a power/Prog/Thrash metal band in Canada. long live metal

Hey Guys, my band, HEDDA, recently changed studios and engineers; we tracked a new song and just posted it on MySpace - we are looking for feedback. It is called "See The Light" and is the bottom song on our playlist. I recorded it with my Skjold PSD '92 Off-Set 5 string through my main rig and Epifani cabs.
