Metalheads

Attack Attack? wow.

Interesting fact about that band: Their bassist only plays breakdowns. Seriously, he beats on his chest the rest of the time.

I can understand why so many folks on here can't stand screaming vocals. I used to be one of you, and through a lot of (unwanted) exposure to screaming vocals, I got to where I appreciated them. The cookie monster vocals don't bother me so much, in fact I'm more quickly annoyed with the constant abrasive high screams, as in The Number 12 Looks Like You and Converge. Anyway, here are some of my favorite metal bands, in no particular order with some notes:

Protest The Hero (one of my favorite bands of any genre)
Between The Buried and Me (The Mars Volta of metal)
Lamb of God (best metal vocalist and drummer in one band)
As I Lay Dying (their new album is garbage, sorry)
August Burns Red (I attended their live DVD show in June)
Animals As Leaders (what an amazing guitarist)
Behold.. The Arctopus (instrumental mathcore at it's best)
HORSE The Band (amazing work on the synth)
iwrestledabearonce (electronic? grindcore? female vocalist? YES!)

Oh and for all the prog heads out there, check out Redemption (not sure if it's been mentioned in this thread)

Pretty solid prog metal with some great bass work by Sean Andrews.

Another good one is James LaBrie's new solo album Static Impulse.

Straight from the British Metal God. :rollno:

Thanks for the links, Stuart O))).
Good stuff!
Not at all. It's just not that difficult to tell Hardcore Punk and Metal apart. It's laziness on their behalf to not learn the genres they listen to. I mean it's one thing not knowing your Death Metal to your Black Metal, but not knowing Metal as a whole from Hardcore Punk as a whole? Those bands that try to mix the 2, usually known as 'core' bands, aren't worthy enough to be in either category.
