Well, it happened to me too but with a pair of shoes I purchased at a young age, and with a lot of effort. It reminds me of an anecdote I read on an old Reader´s Digest (the old ones, not the piece of crap they issue nowadays), about a bunch of people who are having dinner, and the owner of the house is trying to convince his guests about him having the dumbest dog of all. "See, I plant my rose bushes, and he digs them away. I redid them and he comes again and does it again. I have planted those roses about 10 times now, and he keeps doing that". Everyone seems to be in agreement with the stated fact about the dog, and suddenly a small kid says "well, I don´t know about the dog being dumb, but I have my doubts about the guy who plants the roses in the same place..." :p I felt like that with those shoes, don´t worry, in your situation it isn´t worse than the case. I am glad nothing more serious happened, but if you don´t have somewhere safe to place the bass, you should call Cesar Millán to reform your dog´s manners, LOL. Take care!!

Sorry 'bout the case, but did you ask Oscar why he did that? Or maybe wonder why?

Shepherds are working dogs and ol' Oscar may be bored and just looking for a job to do. Train him to herd something, like guitarists or singers or cats or kids or something. Or just go play catch or Frisbee him.

Since the dog doesnt have any history of chewing on stuff other then his toys. Theres something else going on if dog did chew on it. Was food or drink spilled on case? Gotta figure out the why cause dog cant be blaimed for indiscriminate chewing since he hasnt done that in the past. Is there a diff smell to this case then found on your other ones?

Did you perhaps forget to replace a recently worn out chew bone or toy? Where was puppies other chew toys? Perhaps he needs to chew on something and his assigned chew toys where not available? Or perhaps dog is having some sort of dental problems and was chewing to try and alleviate discomfort? Again based on your saying he doesnt chew on stuff.

All of our dogs eventually join what I call the "thousand dollar club". Either through mischief or medical bills each dog will eventually hit the $1000 mark. I take it in stride. My Jack Rat Terrier mix has seen fit to "mark" the front of one of my cabinets and my wife's guitar amp.
"Why, that looks like something splashed...Baxter!!!!!"
