Mike Lull update

I've owned two Lull basses---an M4, and an M5V. IMO, Mike Lull makes one of THE best "traditional" jazz-style basses. Both of mine had Lindy Fralin single coils, and Bart 3 band preamps w/passive tone control. Killer sounding, and playing, basses.

Active is a factory option so you can spec it that way. I had a PJ5 that was passive. It sounded great, but I've become accustomed to the "active" sound and the ability to tweak eq at the bass on the fly.
As for SC vs HB, given that most (all?) of the Roscoes are HB of some kind, I'd be more inclined to go with SC or nc-SC in the Lulls.

Just like Ryan, I have a M4 with the Fralin single coils. And, sometimes, I preferred the Active by-pass (passive) tone.
The M (vs MV) style works for me - smaller body, same reason I prefer the Roscoe LG series.

There are about a dozen basses available. 4 or 5 of them look like ones I'd take for an opening order, so I'm getting more complete specs and hopefully some pics...
I should receive 2-3 instruments within the next 1-3 weeks. It's at least a week of transit time from Seattle to me, and it may take a few days to make it official...

This is all great news - Mike's a master craftsman - he did fabulous work restoring my '68 Jazz! A couple of years ago I played a used Lull 5-string fretless M5 (his "modern" series with the two octave necks) at Bass NW that played and sounded great. After thinking about it for a couple of days I went back to buy it, but it was gone 
So I'd vote for a fretless M5 (with lines).

What type of bread do the PB&J's come in? Are they available in smooth as well as crunchy? What J gives the most Mwahhh?
What type of PB&J's are best for R&B/Motown, or Metal?
I'm all over one of those if they come in 35" scale.

M4V: Candy Apple Red, Indian RW board w/ blocks & matching HS, Bart pre, Fralin PUPs = $2700
M4V: Caramel Burst, BEM board, Bart pre, Fralin PUPs = $2175
We're going to carry their guitars, too, so I also grabbed a Lake Placid Blue SX (strat style) guitar.
I'll let my bank account recharge for a few weeks and then order a few more.

Nice, Greg! I absolutely love those Fralins, and they play very nicely with (what I'm guessing is) the Bart NTBT two-band pre. Mike wires most of the M4V's with a passive tone control, so you get a true vintage tone, with some added oomph at your disposal. Amazing basses....my local store has two M4V's in stock right now that I would love to buy.
