That red one is flat-out gorgeous. I assume it's an alder body?
Blocks & binding are kinda' scary on the menu - sorta' like seeing "Lobster Tail: market price" and asking yourself if you really want it.

On my custom order I originally wanted to go that route, against a Lake Placid Blue finish...until I saw how much it'd cost. All of a sudden, ash/maple sounded really good.
Just for the record...and yes, I am hopeless, here's my lineup:
M5V - alder/rosewood, CAR w/ matching headstock. Duncan SC's & Bart NTMB. (This is the one bass that every bandleader and producer seem to love.)
M5V - ash/maple, 3TB. Duncan LHB's & Bart NTMB. Total funk machine.
M5V - ash/maple, CAO w/ matching headstock, no face dots. Duncan HB P/J & Bart NTMB. Massive. No other word fits as well.
M4V - alder/rosewood, Sherwood green w/ matching headstock. Fralin SC's & Bart NTBT. Vintage to the core. For whatever reason, this one sat at my local store for ~ 18 months, and I finally had to bring it home.
Full disclosure....it's hard to find an MxV that I don't love. Even the "average" sounding ones are pretty special. And when you find a
really special one....well, hence my 3TB bass mentioned above. Did I (cough) need (/cough) another ash/maple in my life? Nope, but this one is in the pantheon. I totally dig the new TC model, but not enough to pony up the premium. The PT is flat-out dangerous, and if I had more rock gigs, I'd probably have to pull a trigger. (Not sure I could ever do a 'Bird body style, but that sound....slurp.) I'm really hit or miss on the M (modern) series. Not sure what it is, but some speak to me, and others just....don't. They look way cool though, and if you've gotta' have a J w/ 24-frets and a fancy top, look no further....at least not without bellying up with an extra grand. However, back to that "Custom" in the business title. One cronie has a pretty special bass coming his way - an M5V w/ 24-fret neck and a P/J pickup config. Wicked.
