Mini Rigs of Doom Four

Reactions: nonohmic
I just picked up a Warwick Gnome to use in place of my Tonehammer 500 (small gigs). I'm hoping to get two 1x12 cabs built soon. No hits on my Eden D410XLT. The proceeds from selling that will cover new neo drivers.

The Gnome came in, and does fit in my gig bag pocket with cables. Love that as I was able to leave the Diaper bag that carries the Aguilar tonehammer 500 at home for practice. My SWR Monitor 12 was used for practice, and the combo worked well with the volume at about 55%. This cab has a bit of a scooped sound (no surprise there). But the amp's mid control compensated. I think this would work fine for coffee house, small, inside gigs. The TH500 definitely buries the Gnome.

I have an old TL806 cab with a Carvin driver in it (32 lbs). I covered up the middle port which makes the low, mid bass thicker, denser. This should be fine for practice, small gigs where low bass is not necessary. This cab hits a volume wall with the TH500 pushing it. I'm still thinking of building a lighter neo 12" cab( or two) with lower voicing. I'm concerned with 5 string compatibility.

New mini rig configuration. Scored a really good deal on a GK MB 200. It’s been on my list for a while and I couldn’t resist. This thing is way louder than I could’ve hoped. I love how minimal and simplistic the controls are. Idiot proof raw power in a 2 lbs box. Crazy. Running this into a Schroeder 210PL makes for quite the monster mini rig.

I love the MB 200! Still regret selling it. At least I still got my GK MB112-1 combo, which contains the same amp.
Sounds soooo sweet!

They’re great little amps! I eventually sold mine because I had WAY too many amps, but kind of regret doing that. Paired with my Barefaced One10, it was a fantastic MRoD.
Forgive me if I've already posted this:

How do you like that 2x8 - I had the ELF 2x8 and was wondering about one of the Revsounds.

So far I am loving it; the caveat is I have not played it with a drummer, with a band, or outside the house but I did an extensive comparison with other smallish cabs/combo I own in this thread, Post #88 (which is ironic considering it's a cabinet with two 8" drivers)

Battle of the 2 x 8" cabs....(warning kinda long)

I'd love to compare it directly to an ELF as they are essentially the same price out the door and to your house.

The RevSound is of course 4 ohms, so you would buy one as a single cab solution (whereas if you had a grand to drop, you could conceivably buy TWO ELf cabinets).

If you had an ELF 2 x 8" why did you get rid of it? Just curious....

I do not know - why do people do lots of things. But at the time I thought one would not do it. I have bought and sold so much stuff.

But actually I did not want 2 to get 4 ohms.

I never thought about that cabinet when I had my MB200. That's a great little cabinet to pair with it.
Thanks! I'm sure I got the idea from one of these mini-rigs threads.

I've never obsessed over tone, but pound for pound I'd call this the sweetest sounding rig I've ever owned. Perfect for me.

View attachment 4405235 View attachment 4405236 I use any combo of the two heads and two cabs posted. Sometimes combined.

1x10 (15lbs)
1x15 (~50lbs)
TC 250w (4-5lbs)
Markbass 250w (6-7lbs)

1x10 + TC head makes a great church band rig. The head fits in my gig bag.
I’ve just added a second 1x10 to my mini rig options. I have high hopes for the various combinations allowed now.
