Mini Rigs of Doom Four

Will - no far
Color me GREEN WITH ENVY!!! And that bass is TO DIE FOR! Great job @LennyJ !

Will
It is kinda small in size - but by no means is it light. This amp is a feeling old thing, I had a 150b in the 70's and found this one and had to have it.
Yes the bass is great but again it is as old as I am.
thanks
Lenny

Yeah - ever time I thinks about selling - I remember this little rig I built and the sound is great. That G.A.S. sickness needed to find a cure.
I guess I will be 100% pleased when I end up under the dirt.

Is that like the ummmm 900 pound gorilla in the room? :D

Yeah, I know, right? I love that everyone is keeping it fun and showing their smallish rigs on here. Once upon I time I remember seeing someone say that you must be able to carry the whole shooting match into the venue in one trip to truly be a MROD. However, the way I see it, if your rig is shorter than your bass sitting in a standard guitar floor stand, and less than 2x as wide, it qualifies. :)

Agreed. This isn't an official club, I believe. If it is, I missed it. I enjoy seeing all the creative ways that people are using to make their rigs smaller.
Once we start placing too many rules on a thread, it's no longer fun and candid sharing. It becomes sniping and conflict over definitions.
I just want to see everyone continue to have fun with this! :D

This rig is in storage for the time being and I can't recall if I posted it here. It's not exactly "Mini" although it has a mini component. But, maybe it qualifies as to how "creative" solutions are made to make life easier. The bottom 15" is a neodymium cab. The top 2x10" is made of a Laney combo that had its amp part die. It has roller wheels at one end and nice handles. I am still working on attaching the TH500 better in its space.

Hear here! I'm working on a solution myself. I would like a couple 10" cabs, or maybe at the very largest, 12" cabs. There are some very cool home-builts on this thread. People are creative! :D

I really love a pair of these with my Ampeg PF 20 T:

Only thing is, they are 4 ohm. So I'm thinking of building them with an 8 ohm speaker each.

This is gorgeous. How do you like the cabs? I see one 112 and one 115. I probably would have gone 2 x 12's. Does this live up to your expectatoins?

Yes. The 112 and 115 compliment each other really well to the point where something always seems missing when I just use one of them. The 15 fills the room while the 12 brings in a lot of detail. Combined with the Mesa D800 I've done coffee shops up to medium sized bars with no issues. Anything bigger and I'm DI'd, at which point it's a pretty sweet personal monitor.

Thus far they seem to compliment the Strategy.... there's a lot of consistency in tone between the Strategy and the D800 so I don't think it'll be an issue.

Nice to find tone Nirvana! Congrats!

Not by the true definition I saw on here. If those are 15s, that stack weighs close to 100 lbs.

I thought - small in foot print and large in sound! That is my definition of Mini Rig of Doom.

They are 12s. I would say that the Walkabout Scout dimensions of 20 1/4" H x 16 1/2" W x 15" D (40 1/2" H stacked) is pretty "small in footprint". Running @ 2ohms is aprox 500 watts and "large in sound". And at 51lbs for the combo and 38lbs for the extension cab that's 89lbs total. Also, I can walk into any club with one in each hand.

Translation?
MINI RIG OF DOOM!!! :thumbsup::cool::bassist::hyper:

Legit!!! I had the same exact stack; just sold it all two weeks ago. Heavy as hell, but small nonetheless.
