Would that be the G&L Tribute Kiloton you have there?
I'm often tempted by these but have heard they can be quite heavy. How are you finding yours?
Sorry if this is off topic.

I really like mine. Very simple control layout. Love the MFD design pickup, very loud for a passive pickup. Love the pickup location very comfortable to play basically the same as an EBMM stingray. Great sounding and great playing bass IMO. Maybe not a stingray killer as some have suggested but I don’t think that was G&L’s intention. The tribute is reasonably priced and very well made. I wish they would offer more color and neck options but overall I’m happy with mine.

I'm interested in these but am a bit concerned about the weight. I like the idea of the MFD pup in that position though, as opposed to the Wunkay where it is in the P bass position.

Mine weighs in a little over 9 lbs. The body style gives it a good center of balance. It’s a bit on the heavy side but I’ve had a lot worse. I bought the red “Irish Ale” because it was offered in swamp ash which is my favorite tone wood.

I wouldn't hold that against you. :) Hope you can find a more local copy. I remember years ago making a pilgrimage to the Bass Centre in South London (I think). It was Trace Elliot heaven!
That was in Wapping, which is in East London, just north of the river. They are just an online store now but we do have the 'Bass Gallery' in Camden Town, north London, which is the only bass specific shop in London that sells the sort of kit that most musicians can buy.

Yes, that's right! I just remember taking the tube from West London and making a few transfers and stops to get there. But it was amazing, in its day, for us low end lovers. Mark King was my hero!

If I someday make it back to London, which I hope to, I'll be sure to add the Bass Gallery to my list of places to visit! Thanks!

P.S. Isn't Camden Town where the Apple TV show "Trying" is located? Looks like a nice place, bass shop or no bass shop. :)

I had never heard of 'Trying' until you mentioned it but I'll take a look.
Camden Town is a good place to visit if you are into music. There is a counter culture scene there, loads of clubs and pubs with music (when not in lockdown) and also a few shops selling instruments, including the 'Bass Gallery'

The Bass Gallery is run by a German luthier called Martin. It's small thin and claustrophobic, everywhere you turn there are basses in your face and not the usual Squier, Sire, Cort and Ibanez budget stuff that most shops would have (that is guitar shops that also have a tiny bass section).

Give us a budget in Euros and I'll look at what Thomann has to offer.

What sort of music do you play? What bass(es) do you use?

edit: I see you have an EBS head and a GK 212. Is the new rig you are going to buy for smaller venues?
No I am selling my entire rig because where I live the electricity line is poopie and it makes bass playing impossible. So I need to find a new rig.

Thomann has only a Roland and some vox ones that I dont fancy.
