Since Jauqo won't go into details, David Minnieweather is no longer with us, I don't know anymore, just read the news on Facebook.

Hi Folks,
This is a difficult first post for me and has been a sad day all around.
David Minnieweather's father called me this morning with the news of David's passing. He has asked me to help the family sort out what instruments are currently at the house and what needs to be done to get them back to their owners. I have been in contact with many local luthier friends and we are committed to finishing up as much of the work in progress as we can. To that end I need to gather relevant information. At this time emails would be the preferred way for anyone to get in touch with me about any current projects that David was involved with. Feel free to contact me via my website or through the private message system.

At this point I am more concerned about his family than the projects we were working on. The one bass I have from him is a Masterpiece!

I will miss him very much. RIP Dave.

I think it's amazing how the tone of this thread turned on a dime after hearing the news. I hope the stress of a difficult year for any small business person was not exacerbated by comments posted here. As we've all experienced, I'm sure, it ain't no picnic out there right now...

First,I would like to sincerly apolojize to those who have projects out with me:Brian,Chris,Ed,Eric,Mike,Ian,Bill.I am truly sorry.You have all been very kind to think of Minnieweatherbasses.I will make every effort to call and talk to everyone that I have projects out with today and continue to keep in communication till each project is complete.This has not been my intention to hurt or disapoint anyone here.2007/2008 have been very tough years on all fronts.But, I've always tried to stay positive and will remain to do so and stay committed to see things through till projects are completed.Once again I am truly sorry for your experience.I am dedicated to the best quality in every bass that some have come to know.

Sad to say but some of the comments in this thread and other threads like this, did indeed play a role in how he was feeling.

Never had any interaction with the man, never played one of his basses, but I've never seen one that I didn't like at least visually. For those that didn't know him personally his basses will be a lasting legacy. Play 'em and keep the legacy alive.

agreed, david king is just that...a king amoung men. i know how big of an influence king was on minnieweather and that gesture really reflects why minnieweather was always so impressed with king.

That's really sad - I met him at a NAMM show a few years back. His basses were really fine and innovative. And David King, what a great person you are to help out like you are. We're lucky to have people like this around.

It's always sad to see people pass away well before they should.
