MLB 2018

I try my best to stay as far away from the “officiating changed the outcome of the game” state of mind as I can...I really, Really do...AND the Braves had 4 more half innings at bat...and, despite the fact that the Braves don’t HAVE a Closer, their Closer gave up the winning run in the 9th...I still chose this for my Word Of The Day:

My friend Tom, I am of course hardly an unbiased observer, and I didn't actually see the game, but I feel compelled to point out that the plate is not actually visible in this photo.:bag:

...silly me!
All I had to do was type in ‘Braves hosed’ and the amazing intrawebs brought me straight to Cubs HQ!

Ha! Well, I did try to watch ESPN’s highlights before I posted, but the clip froze just after the commercial.:meh: The guy at third was definitely safe. The home plate call was closer—I think he was safe, but I can understand why they said they didn’t have conclusive evidence to overturn. But I’m surprised the initial call wasn’t safe.

Tonight’s game was painful (for the Cubs). So many missed chances (gotta give credit to the Braves’ pitchers), then the bullpen melted down.

Jeez, I know that it kinda sounds like bragging...and Nobody likes a braggart...but when the score got to 9-6, with two out, and two Braves on, I started calling out to all of the folk who had walked out on the game 10 minutes earlier...
“Hey, you guys! You might wanna come see this!” :woot::woot::woot:

(all 6 runs were scored with 2 outs...)

Today is day #178 of our 180 day school year here in GA.

I used to have a big white-on-black sign (much like the old Mets’ “Ya Gotta Believe” signs) up in my room that quoted that great American philosopher Yogi Berra, that read “It ain’t over till it’s over.”

Late in the year, if the kids were gettin’ rowdy, or if they were whining about how other Teachers were showing movies while I was trying to teach them how to play Chess, I’d ask them...”When is it (the school year) over?”

That always got ‘em back on task, with a smile.

Mariners are in second, only two games back of Houston! OK, they beat up on Detroit and Texas. Don't burst my bubble. They are playing almost .600 ball and would be leading the AL Central by a bunch of games. They would be buried in the East. Don't burst my bubble. Thanks. They are doing it without Robbie Cano, too. If they could just string together some pitching beyond Paxton, they would be in line for a pretty good season. I'm kinda wondering if Felix is going to learn to make like Jamie Moyer or if he's now a fireballer without a fire ball.

And now Gordon is going on the DL with a broken toe. My bubble might be leaking a bit.

Dear Baseball Gods,
Please, Please, Please do not allow my inability to communicate clearly and succinctly cost my Braves even One game!

When I recently wrote about ‘being a braggart’, I was not referring to bragging about the Braves as a team, and I definitely was Not bragging about an individual victory.

I AM, however, guilty of bragging about being the last of our party who was watching...
...sticking around, waiting for the last out...

I've only watched gIANTS games this year, but the umps. Holy cow! It's just insane how bad they are. Not just against the gIANTS, but both sides and it's ruining the game.

How can ANYONE call strikes that far outside the box? Don't they hold these guys accountable? It's bad.

The injury bug isn't just biting the Mariners all of a sudden. It's chewing their leg off. I hope they get the injuries out of the way early and are healed for a stretch run. They won last night, but may have lost a couple more every day players. We don't even have a cow or a goat or a Bartman or anything else we can point to for a curse.
