I remember Jamie Moyer pitched for the Phillies until he was 49. When he was interviewed, he said it wasn't so much the playing in the games he would miss, but being part of a team, and spending time with his teammates/friends - that wax the special part of being a player. Wright also has two young daughters who never got to see him play. No way I will pay for the tickets, but I imagine on 9/29, Jose Reyes will lead off and play shortstop, and Wright will play and bat third.
Hoping the Brew can hold on closing out this season for at least a wildcard. Exciting stuff in the NL Central

Crazy end of the season - lots of teams fading (Arizona, Phils, Giants, kinda Seattle and Yankees), and others surging (As, Brewers, Astros, even Mets somewhat).
And still no six way tie for the wildcard...

Same thing I said above about the Brewers. In April you would have taken this and run. Phils (and Braves) are at least a year ahead of schedule, and seem to know what they are doing. Just a player or two short.
I completely agree.
Hard not to be a prisoner of the moment, but a bigger picture outlook is more appropriate for sure.
It's nice to see somebody with a shred of hope for the Mariners. They postponed the season ending swoon this year, and I'm grateful for that. But, I would be even happier if they could someday figure out how to avoid having one.

Mariners just took the season series with the Astros. I'm going to take whatever positives there are to take.
I wanna see the Braves beat Houston in 7 1/2 games
The Braves seem to be backing into the Post Season...if for nothing else but the lack of interest being shown by the Phitens and the Natinals.

Once you get to the post season, anything can happen. Remember, with all the off days in the Post season, two or three great starting pitchers gives you a huge advantage. That is the one thing Boston doesn't have. Regular season success is not a very good indicator of post season strength.
