MLB 2018

Seems like 7-11 would do better ratings than 8-12.

7pm-8pm is part of the time set aside for local affiliates...Newscasts, Jeopardy, Family Feud, TMZ...and that local money.

Network broadcasting takes back over at 8:00.

The affiliates would scream like a stuck pig if the network tried to take that local money away...World Series or whether my alarm clock goes off at 5:15, and I need a nap by noon!

So do a study and try and determine how much more money the nationals broadcast would make if they did this, and give some to the local networks. Take a look at the schedule during the season - when is the usual starting time?

Add in the fact that these games are generally longer than regular season games. Take a look at the NFL. Many of their late games go past 7:00. I am sure they worked out a deal with the local networks (so we don't get another Heidi Bowl).

Red Sox fans are feeling much better about the team today than they were on this day 32 years ago.

I bet. I was rooting for the Sox in that one because Buckner was one of my favorite Dodgers. Unfortunately for him he got replaced by a kid named Garvey. His miscue aside, he still had a solid career and played many years after that. I think he finished back with the Sox if I recall correctly.

I miss my regular announcers. Can't stand the d*bags on FOX or TBS or whatever. And man, when we were playing the Yankees the announcers were so far up their ***'* that a hay hook couldn't get them out!
With you there. With the current broadcasting rights arrangement, we can’t even hear our radio guys, Charlie Steiner and Rick with the golden voice Monday. Buck and Smoltz are terrible.

I miss Dave Niehaus, who never got to call a World Series game for the Mariners, and Tim McCarver who was outstanding for the Mets before going on to call games for everyone else. McCarver did get to call a World Series for the Mets while I lived in New York. That season was a magical time to be a Mets fan in New York. I'm hoping we have one of those here before I join the dying Cub's fan.
