First Mariners spring training game is coming up on Friday. Not that I'm counting or anything. They are in first place, at least until then! It's a blissful thing to think about when it's cold and raining around here.

Rockies have pitchers and catchers working, the rest of the team reports soon.

My wife and I are catching up on baseball movies that we haven't seen yet. Last night we watched Angels in the Outfield (yeegs, syrupy-sweet) and The Scout (I didn't like Albert Brooks' character at all). We have Mr. 3000, The Fan (Snipes and DeNiro) and a few others coming up.

It will take a lot for any of them to be better than Major League, Major League III (Back to the Minors), The Natural, or For The Love of The Game.

Meanwhile, my Todd Helton #17 Rox jersey is ready and waiting. We already have tickets to the July 3 fireworks game against the Giants. We'll be going to games before that, too.

No, I haven't. Maybe someday. I haven't ever seen a spring training game.

I just ordered my tickets for the Brewer game in San Diego on 3/30. This will be stadium number 4 (5 if you include County Stadium) for me. Seeing a game in every ball park is on my bucket list. Only 26 to go!

About noon, Pacific Time, the Mariners have their spring debut against the Padres. Dee Gordon will be in CF for the first time in his MLB career, as far as I know. Miranda will be on the mound for a bit. I can never keep up with pitching changes in spring training, so it doesn't matter that much. Pitchers will be ahead of the hitters, then the pitchers will go through dead arm, then it's opening day. The natural order of things has been restored.

In the mean time, Mariners are dropping like flies already. I hope they don't turn this into lots of dropped flies, but it's not a good sign to have so many injuries so soon.

The closest I am getting to Atlanta in the foreseeable future is Orlando in the middle of June. Work conference.

Big, Big news!

I’ll miss him terribly!
Having Ichiro a part of the NL East for the past 4? years has been a joy and an honor.
FIRST ballot Hall Of Fame member whom I have seen 4 time (3 times from the cheap seats...)
I hope he has a 44 year old Blast in Seattle!

I have not been to either, and I will definitely let you know when I go there. I don't have any plans to see any other stadiums (other than Miller Park) this summer, but that could change.

Interesting piece on Ichiro. I'm only part of the way through it. Ichiro's return to Seattle won't resolve the battle raging within him

The Phillies land Arrieta at what could amount to a bargain if he gets back to form.

Put that with the additions of Tommy Hunter and Pat Neshek and it seems like the Phillies have decided to end the tank-a-thon.

Santana was a big bat to add too.
