I love Dusty. I lived him in ATL. He’s awesome. And Stros games are something I do with my daughter. But this year they just sorta fell into the playoffs. In a way it was an exciting division right to the end.
Their parade went by her apartment and we made a date of that too.
With the end of the season comes the end of some careers. Thank you to Joey Votto for playing baseball the way it was meant to be played and being very, very good at it. He drove in way too many late inning runs against my Cubs but I'll always appreciate a guy that played the game right. Walking a man ahead of him was like giving Larry Bird 4 feet of space - scores were going to be made. 17 years, all with Cincy, and he got tossed today for arguing balls and strikes (and he was RIGHT). And you know what he did after the game? He *apologized*.

I was sad to learn that Tim Wakefield passed away. It was a treat to watch him pitch.

Great season. Now if they can just do something about all the serious pitcher injuries.
I heard TWO interesting ideas. Limit the number of pitchers on a staff. If pitchers HAVE to go deeper into games, they won't be throwing every pitch at 110%, which seems to be the reason for many of the injuries, since pitch counts at MLB haven't done !$^#@.
The other idea is the team loses the DH when they take out the starting pitcher.

So the Jays backed into the playoffs and then decided to party like they have won it all! We saw this last year and well, we all remember how that worked out! Mariners made them look like chumps.
Can't help but think the same for this year as sure, they have pitching, but their offence is well offensive! LOL

Welcome aboard the bandwagon! I sure hope the Jays can at least get past Minnesota. It won't be easy, but they have a chance.
It's a bummer that the M's finished the season the way they did. 11-17 in September. The Astros and Rangers weren't exactly on fire in September either. Just playing .500 in Sept. probably would have got the job done for Seattle. Hope for better results next year!
I was a bit surprised to see such a big celebration for being the 3rd Wild Card team and limping into the WC series... but I guess it won't hurt to have a bit of fun as long as they're ready for the game on Tuesday.
Out here it was what could be the end for Brandon Crawford of the Giants. I bleed Dodger Blue. But appreciated him for being a great player who made the rivalry so much fun.
Jeez. The hated Rangers are up a game on the Rays. The Twins are beating the Jays. Maybe I should switch over to rooting for the Rangers and Twins to jinx them both.
That was a really bad game in many ways (Jays vs. Twins). Bichette at times looked like he wasn’t prepared for the moment. Why on Earth did he break for home on that bobbled grounder? He had no chance! Stay at 3rd, bases loaded! Ugh. And then he had an awful at bat (ugly strikeout) later in the game after Vlad got on with a lead off double. He swung at a pitch on the other batter’s box. To top it all off, the home plate ump made several very bad strike calls IMO (against both teams, not just Toronto). That dude should not be behind the plate for another game in October.

The Jays are getting blanked in the 7th. It’s only 2-0 but it might as well be 10-0. They can’t score. They’ve had plenty of runners on the bases. Can’t cash them in. Also, I have no clue why they pulled Berrios so early. He was going fine. It was just one walk in the 4th and his pitch count was low. I don’t think Schneider is a good manager… And don’t get me started on Vlad getting picked off at 2nd base. Ugh.
Probably the weather; I read it was cloudy with a chance of dome in Tampa yesterday.
. . . and the Twinkies are back! I have a number of friends that are Minnie fans and know they must be stoked. It's sure been a long time.
