MLB 2023

Wow...

OK, I'll root for the Dodgers then. That will be the kiss of death.

:D
Seems to have been prophetic. Down 0-2 to the freaking snakes. The silver lining may be that it could hopefully be the end of Roberts. I’ve been saying for years he is a coach, not a manager. He needs to go. One WS tittle in a 40 game season. An otherwise pretty dreadful playoff record with what has always been a first rate lineup.

If a miracle happens and they make it to game five, we have tickets. I’m not holding my breath.

Go (cough) Dodgers!

What an ugly postseason for the teams of the AL East!

The O's, Rays, and Jays combined to go 0-7 and get outscored 37-13 in seven games against the Rangers (Rays and O's) and Twins (Jays). Toronto and Tampa each only scored ONE RUN across two games in the Wild Card round. Baltimore had one high scoring game but still lost the game (11-8). They scored one and two runs in the other two games of the ALDS.

In the regular season, these three teams averaged just under a 60% win percentage and scored an average of just under 5 runs per game. You'd think at least one or two teams could have performed a bit better in October. Playoff baseball is wacky.

Teams with time off are not playing well. If you are going to have that many rounds, first round should be one game, then 2 of 3, 3 of 4, and only the world series 4 of 7.
I think the teams that had time off should simply play better! These were some of the best teams in the league across the 162 game regular season. They're legit good teams. A few days off should not make them fall to pieces.

re: the postseason format: I'm not in love with the new Wild Card series either. Some of these teams, like my dumb Blue Jays, just weren't good enough to even be there. Those games felt like a waste of everybody's time. I'd love to go back to the days where it was just three division winners and one Wild Card (no play-in game), and after the regular season we go straight to the Division Series.
