MLB 2025

Looking over the boxscore this morning... Ohtani is unstoppable. They walked him intentionally 4 times! o_O

The Jays' hitters got to see a lot of the Dodger's bullpen last night and couldn't do enough damage to get a win. A lot of strike outs for the Jays. If the Dodgers relievers can be just OK then they are in a very good position considering how strong the starting pitching can be.

Tonight's probable starters are Bieber and Ohtani, a match up that clearly favours the Dodgers. Both bullpens are going to be feeling pretty worn out after last night. Both teams will be looking for length from their starters. I'm not sure how much Bieber has to give. This is a big start. Ohtani is stretched out to ~100 pitches now and I think he's a lock to go 6 innings -- maybe deeper if he gets quick outs against these aggressive Blue Jay hitters. Gotta find a way to get a win and even up the series, boys!

Watched the condensed game over my lunch break... Wow. So many missed scoring opportunities for both teams. If the Jays could have tightened things up just a bit more, maybe they would have won it last night. I'm sure the Dodgers side is thinking along similar lines, but it's "We could have won this game earlier." Toronto got to Glasnow, put pressure on Sasaki. They're doing a lot of the right things. Just improve a bit more tonight.

Barger's throw home from RF to get Freeman out by a mile was a beauty. He has a cannon for an arm. Freeman isn't a great runner of course, but not many other guys on LA are beating that throw. Teoscar made a very nice throw in RF as well. Davis Schneider should not have been sent home on that play. Ugh. Both teams were being fairly aggressive on the bases though. Vlad scored from 1B on a Bichette hit. I love the hustle (as long as they're safe in the end!)

I do not want to see Ty France make another plate appearance tonight. If Springer is in too much pain to swing properly, then let's get Joey Loperfido in there instead.

Wow! 18 long innings. Ohtani on base nine times with two solo HR's and intentional walks. Freddy Freeman setting a WS record of being the only player with two walk off wins. This game just shows how well these two teams are matched. I am hoping Ohtani has enough energy left today to pitch a quality game four. It is well known that he like to get ten hours of sleep each night.

I managed to watch up and until the 16th inning, 2:00am Toronto time. I was hopeful that someone would maybe just run into one, but it was not in the cards.
Blue Jays management neutered their offence by the 7th inning, leaving only bench players to carry the load.
Hoping for a long outing by Beibes tonight or things are going to be heading sideways for the Jays!

If Springer is out (and I sure think he is) , won't they just DH Bichette and go with the regular line up with only that DH swap??
Yes, I think that is the likely outcome - at least for the start of games. The Jays use their whole bench and make substitutions quite liberally. It hurt them a bit last night as @Fishheadjoe pointed out. But I think they would potentially like to have another guy on the bench that they can use situationally. It's what they do.

It’s a GD miracle the Jays stayed in it for LITERALLY AN ENTIRE ADDITIONAL GAME with what was basically a split squad spring training lineup.

Sorry for shouting. I‘m still so very tired…
