Ohtani is starting tonight. He could practically win this game by himself if he has a big night on the mound and at the plate. He’s on short rest so probably not pitching deep into the game. But he’s a threat with his bat all night long.

It's been a blast for me. I want the Jays to win but I'n not really invested.Tense yes. Fun? Depends on who you ask![]()
I was in college in St. Paul then and the town went NUTS.It's up there for me. But the best I can recall would be Braves/Twins in '91. Five one-run games, three went to extras. I was rooting for Atlanta, but I couldn't begrudge the Twins for winning.
Starting is about the only way they could do it. If he relieved and didn't finish the game, he could not go back to DH. They would lose his batting.Ohtani is starting tonight. Yep. He either had to start or be the closer. If he pitched the bottom of the 9th and they win then losing the DH won’t matter. Starting him seems to be by far the safer choice.Starting is about the only way they could do it. If he relieved and didn't finish the game, he could not go back to DH. They would lose his batting.
LOL, as a life long Pacer's fan, ask me how fun game 7 was......![]()
And if he closes and blows the save, he's out as batter in extra innings.Yep. He either had to start or be the closer. If he pitched the bottom of the 9th and they win then losing the DH won’t matter. Starting him seems to be by far the safer choice.
Yes... really bad luck. We'll likely never again see a ball land, on the fly, at exactly the junction of the pad and the ground. Like flying a golf shot directly into the cup. Or me nailing each note on a fast bass riff...If that dead ball double is hit just 1/2" higher, Jays get a run and have man on second, no out.
What a crazy bottom-of-the-ninth.
