Mob wedding?!?!?!

Many years ago I played at a mob guys mansion for his son’s 16th birthday. You could not ask for a more gracious host and everybody behaved awesomely. Great gig. No booze, wildness or trouble, just friendly people and food. (he owned strip clubs, bars, hotels and who knows what else)

100% truth here. Played a few 1%er rallies.

The meanest 1 percenter clubs are probably the safest places I've ever played. Nobody messes with The Band. If any women hit on you, just laugh and smile though... no more than that.

Oddly, I was given much of this same advice when I visited the Hell's Angels clubhouse in NYC.

These "guys" are some of the nicest ppl you will ever meet.Very family orientated. Just don't start asking a lot or any questions about the "family" business and you will be fine.Also Don't stare at any group of men that has an older gent in the group EVER just glaze past them to something else.Keep to yourself be cordial smile at no one in particular especially the women. Play your heart out and have fun.

Excellent song! A forgotten gem from my youth. But I doubt the "families" would appreciate the humor.

Mob gigs can be awesome affairs where they shower you with love and money if you do a good job. They are by and large like anyone else...treat them with respect, they treat you with respect. The difference is if you don't treat them with respect, they're just as liable to whack you as buy you a drink. Just remember two simple rules and all will be fine:

1. Never mention "This Thing Of Ours" to anyone there at any time if you are not part of the "Family."

2. Make jokes all you want in between songs, but make sure they're at least mildly funny and never make a joke at any guest's expense.

3. It's an unusual occurrence at those types of happy gatherings, but if any "business" takes place, you see nothing and hear nothing.

Also, be prepared to take a couple Rat Pack requests
