Picked up one of the new MP Jazz 4 strings last week, and so far I can't fault it. Does everything I need it to, with great build quality for the price. Seriously thinking about the Dimension now, it sounds pretty good on the demo, and I do need a white bass...

This is the demo if the 5 string. The guy playing here used the notes on the B string maybe three times LOL. But the B string doesn't sound great to my ears.

It looks cool to me.

But...

I wish they would try something outside the box and simple like this in an American model.

I wonder if that's a marketing decision - introduce the new style cheap in a modern player version to see if people buy into it, and if it's a hit, maybe they'll start souping it up in MIM and MIA versions, with more color/fretboard choices, active electronics, etc.

Personally, I'm in the camp that's happy to see Fender trying something different. This particular design doesn't do it for me, personally, not because it's non-traditional but just, I don't know - it's not that exciting. But I hope this signals that Fender is starting to ramp up its creativity.

My first thought as well. If they were going to keep the basic Fender headstock and double cut vibe then they should have just stuck the pickup on a P or a J. Yup.

If you look at this video, and, the 5 string video...if the volumes are all the way up, the tone is about halfway shut.

Man, Fender's really bringing out the cool with this series. I can't wait to give one of these a spin. Looks like street price is about $500.

On a semi related note, the guy in that demo video's really trying to give himself some sort of wrist injury.

Dig the look. Not feeling the absence of a tone pot (because that's the only knob on my rig that ever gets twisted). I agree with the sentiment that this would make a good modding platform (i.e. Darkstar and a tone pot would be awesomesauce). I also think this would have been cool with something really out there like a 32" scale.

As for the folks who want black/maple: I'll go ahead and get the white one, you get the black one, and we can swap necks!
