It looks like something Peavey would've had in their lineup in the early 90's with that pickguard, not that there's anything bad about that.

It would've been a lot more appealing to the eye without a pickguard (maybe some kind of control plate for the knobs) but I'd wager that it hides the bathtub routing for the volume and selector plus some kind of ugly cnc hole on the lower horn.

Maybe I will buy a white one and refinish it black, or maybe someone who wants a white one with a rose wood neck can trade me. They did this to me with the Squier VM Jag also.

I wasn't all too impressed until I heard the clips on YouTube. I never thought that with all the coils being so close together that there would be a huge difference between positions. But there is. So, here's what would get it done for me. I kinda like it as is but......

What if I got this bass and then put a split P in the sweet spot? Then I could simply put in a selector switch to go from just the P to just the whole "tribucker" setup? I see no need to combine them together so the wiring would actually be pretty simple. Maybe a stacked volume and tone to keep it down to three knobs total. Hmmmmm...... just spitballing here.

Anyway. I dig it.

It looks weird but the tone's alright. I'd like to try one out. I played a modern player jazz bass once in a store. It sounded ok, but didn't really feel like it was too well constructed.

I see where folks are coming from with the ATK/Stingray comparisons......but the first thing I thought of when I saw the Dimension was the single pickup version of the Gibson Victory Bass:

It looks just like a Line6 Variax pickguard.
Overall I think it's cool. It surprised me, the range of different tones, I'm inclined to think it's different winding resistance values or magnet types for each coil attributive to that, but that's just speculation...not in the market but I'd certainly like to try one.

I hope it's a hit. Hopefully, a five string version will come out if it is a hit. A tone control would be cool too. That said, it would be great to have as it is.

I have to applaud Fender for trying something different. I prefer them doing something new than another variation on a Precision or Jazz. I probably wouldn't use it due to the pup location (not a big fan of StingRays, either, or Ibanez ATK). Also have to laugh at the "blatant rip off"/"It's just a _____ copy!" comments, because, you know, nobody has EVER copied Fender...

As far as the pickguard, well it looks to me a lot like the 70's Tele guard, and I don't think it looks terrible to be honest. My only complaint is the lack of a tone knob, but that's a fairly simple remedy.

I agree, the pickguard looks like a 70's era Tele bass to me as well.
