Modulus Mob

I would just like to share my experience in repairing a chip on the back of my modulus neck. It wasn't very large but felt very rough. It was directly behind the 10th fret so it was something that bothered me. I didn't want to have it get worse so I used [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]. This is a epoxy like substance that I've used before. I placed a small amount on the chip and let it harden then smoothed it out the best I could with 600-2000 grit sandpaper. I've only hand buffed the finish with car wax and polish but it's worked well enough so far. It's not perfect when held up to the light, but it feels smooth and the chip is completely covered. I'd take a picture but honestly due to the clearness of the epoxy, I can't seem to capture it well enough. I would highly recommend this to any one else who may have a chip that needs repair. If you're brave enough to try it, it's at best a 30-40$ repair after you buy the sand paper and the epoxy. You can find the envirotex lite at hobby lobby.

Played out with the "new" Q5 for the first time yesterday. Not a full-fledged trial, but a nice little giglet in the form of worship service.

It was really nice to have that sound back after a couple of years of not having it. There really is no other bass that does what they do, IMO. Hopefully I learned my lesson and keep this one forever.

Interesting experience with the EMG 40CS. I liked them better than I thought I would.

i just wanted to make the neck have no relief (Straight neck)
i tighten the trussrod many many time, it doesn't move.
and when i tighten it, is kindda not resist my hand, i have to turn it 5 times in a roll to make it a littlebit resist my hand, then when i go up for another round it loosen again, so is like this.

**notice** i turn 5 times in one round because the rod is not resisting, i guess is ok to turn it five time in a roll.

first quarter > Loosen
second quarter > Loosen
third quarter > littlebit resist
forth quarter > littlebit resist
fifth quarter > Loosen

then wait and play it for about 10 min.

and check if is move....notting, but i also heard about a Modulus neck system that only can loosen it. or maybe is that?

thanks for reading all of this, bless to all TB nice user.

Uh-oh...

Dumb question likely, but why does my 1995 Quantum Sweetspot 5er have a 18v pre and my 1995 Q5 have a 9v pre?

Usually I am up to speed with what is in my basses, but I bought the Sweetspot based on tone alone. Bought the Q4 as I am sold on Modulus (based on the Sweetspot's tone).

Obviously Modulus' website is a joke so it is hard to find additional info.

Help!

For those interested, Premier Guitar just posted a nice Rig Rundown of Flea's current setup (which of course features a large selection of Modulii):

Also, I should be picking up my custom Q5 from Alpha Audio Works in CT this Friday - can't wait!

Cool, thanks for the video I love those type of vids where we really see the actual rig and instruments these players use.

Just noticed, you are from Sandwich??? I was just in rehearsal in Sandwich (I live in the Mills) but my office is in the Industrial Park.

I too have a Q5, playing her this Saturday at my gig, throwing new strings on her tonight as I watch the Celtics finish off the Heat!:bassist:

Let me ask the question differently, as I need help!

What is the standard preamp in a 1995 Quantum? And is it a 9 or 18 volt?

Thx!

Outside gig today, Modulus Quantum 5 Sienna Bart / Bart combo into Genz Benz Streamliner 900 + Bergantino HS 410 Cab = Heaven. The sound guy was lovin' the tone and smooth sound. Love this bass....

My Quantum 5 through my Sadowsky SA410 (made by Berg) sounds great no matter what head I use it seems. I have gigged it with a GK MB Fusion, a Hiwatt DR503 and a Mesa M9.

Modulus and Berg will likely sound great together no matter what!

I agree my Q5 sounds incredible through my shuttle 9 into my berg ht322. I can cop pretty much any tone I want.

Hey guys, I have a quick question, I just picked up a used flea 5 j config from GC, I have been playing it for a couple days and the out put on the bass seems really low. It has the aggie obp 3 wired 18 volt and I just ab'd it against my stingray wich is a 9 volt circuit and it blew the modulus out of the water in terms of output. My question since I'm new to a modulus is is this normal for an aggie pre and bart jazz pickups or does anybody think something may be up. And yes I changed the batteries.

Are the PU's really low?

After multiple delays in production, the wait is over...
