Modulus Mob

i just wanted to make the neck have no relief (Straight neck)
i tighten the trussrod many many time, it doesn't move.
and when i tighten it, is kindda not resist my hand, i have to turn it 5 times in a roll to make it a littlebit resist my hand, then when i go up for another round it loosen again, so is like this.

**notice** i turn 5 times in one round because the rod is not resisting, i guess is ok to turn it five time in a roll.

first quarter > Loosen
second quarter > Loosen
third quarter > littlebit resist
forth quarter > littlebit resist
fifth quarter > Loosen

then wait and play it for about 10 min.

and check if is move....notting, but i also heard about a Modulus neck system that only can loosen it. or maybe is that?

thanks for reading all of this, bless to all TB nice user.

Take it to any guitar store that does repairs and I believe they will tell you that the truss-rod is malfunctioning. You shouldnt have to pay them to answer this. I have never had this on a bass but I have heard tell of them coming loose at the end so it basically spins ans spins like you describe. Good Luck!!

After multiple delays in production, the wait is over...

Can I have a number, please?

That is a beautiful bass!! I love natural wood basses! Bravo!!

it's by far the nicest bass I've ever played...

I have owned Sadowskys, Roscoes, MTD, Dingwall, etc. I prefer my Modulus basses to all of them. Just great sounding, looking and playing basses!

I did a patio gig tonight with 2 acoustic guitars and the Modulus sounded great. DI to the PA and we did everything from Pearl Jam and Stone Temple Pilots to Bob Dylan and Neil Young.

Just killer basses!

Hello, I just purchased a pre owned Modulus Quantum 5. I'm really liking it! I'm waiting for a set of Circle K strings to arrive for her before I really experiment with tone. I'm sort of puzzled by the knobs, especially the two stacked ones toward the bridge. It has the EMG pups and looks exactly like the set up on the bass directly above this post.

Greetings Everyone!

I bought this a few months ago, and it has quickly become one of my favorite basses of all time!

2 questions for the Mob...

1. I am not that in love with the amber color, so who would you guys recommend to refinish it? I want it either natural or the "Bahama Blue" like Spector has on their Coda deluxe series. I also want it to have the same high gloss like it comes from the factory.

2. Can I get a club number? :bassist:

Refinishing a Modulus is like repainting a Ferrari!!

Probably true, but 1/2 of the beauty of a Modulus to me is the finish. That bass you have is awesome looking.

Yeah it looks good, and the body is prestine! I've just never been a big fan of amber.

I have not fully convinced myself to do this, as I don't want to pay someone and they do a poopy job! ...but it has crossed my mind and I am keeping my options open!

Do you happen to know if Modulus does their staining/clear coat at the factory or do they have a third party take over those duties?

BTW-Awesome avatar! I have that same bobblehead! Going to see them 8/24! Can't freakin' wait!

I will be in Bham and ATL!

As far as Modulus, I think they do it all in house but I can't confirm that. You would probably be better off trading for the finish you want! I dig the amber basses.

Excellent! I will be in Birmingham for Phish too! It'll be my first show since Alpine 2003! ...I'm PUMPED!!!

I know the color is a VERY superficial issue...which makes me feel kind of petty! :rollno: I will probably keep it as is, if for no other reason than I'm not sure if I could trust anyone to do it correctly! :D

besides, I can see a few Q5's in my future!

Very nice, but if the amber isn't your cup of tea you could try Pat Wilkins (no affiliation). His company does all the finishes for Lakland and others.

Refinishing a Modulus is like repainting a Ferrari!!

But if you don't like Ferrari Red and you've paid that much for something, it should be what you want, just saying.
