Modulus Mob

Alright! It's in my hands finally, and it is stunning. It sounds like nothing I've ever heard before, and it feels amazing. To top it all off, it managed to travel from Texas to China without going out of tune. I'm going to have to make my next bass a Quantum.

Modulus basses staying in tune is an amazing thing. I can play an outdoor gig with my Quantums when the temperature is in the 90's, put the basses in my basement (60's) and not touch them for weeks... and they are almost always still in perfect tune. Amazing!

Also, I live in Canada (just over an hour north of Buffalo, NY... not the Arctic... and no, I don't live in an igloo, say aboot or drive to work on a dog sled!:p) where the temperature drops below zero in the winter and can be high 90's in the summer.... and the humidity changes huge.

I am used to adjusting the truss rods on all of my Fenders and MM basses every spring and winter/fall. The action can change by as much as 1/4" or even more. My Modulus basses? They don't move AT ALL. My Quantums don't have truss rods and the action is super low on both.... and IT NEVER CHANGES!

I really love these Quantums!:bassist:

On another note....

Modulus folks, I bought a 1995 Quantum 5 Sweetspot a while back and this started my love affair with Modulus basses. I also added a 2 pickup Q4 a bit later.

In any case, I have played 4 or 5 other Modulus basses this year (some newer and very $$$) and none come close in tone to my Sweetspot.

I am finding it strange that I strongly prefer a "entry level" Modulus to others that are $3500+.

Anyone else out there love their Sweetspot (or less expensive Modulus basses) more than the higher end models?

Congrats and welcome!

Baird is 125% correct about staying in tune. Hot weather, cold weather, sitting for awhile, overplayed.....the tuning doesn't change. It's great.

Put that with tone and playability and rock on!

I didn't know the Sweetspot modes were entry level.

I do love my Q5- just had band practice on Cape Cod during a nasty thunderstorm and she was in perfect tune the whole time after sitting in a gig bag for a week:

Pete, I've still got to get out and see you guys play one of these days. I'm friends with Brian from back in the day, and I'd also love to chat up a fellow Mob member :).

I have a question for the Mob :)

Is $1650US a decent price for a Q6? Meaning, if I play the frets off of it for a few months in every style and situation i can think of, will I be able to sell it for close to that price if it doesn't win me over? I really want to like it, so I want to give it a fair shot. It's got EMGs if that helps.

Thanks in advance Mob! :)

That is a pretty nice deal for a Q6.
