Modulus Mob

My tuners came with no Modulus logo on the back...

Same, for my Modulus that was finished in 2012.

Also good to know but that won't stop me from try to pry those little buggers off and put them on the new tuners! :D

AND just so you are aware: the guy who runs Buzzard bass is not a joy to work with. I bought the tuners, sent him a Paypal payment and never heard from him. I sent him an email just to confirm and I got a very snarky reply. I don't really mind because he is only about a 40 minute drive away from me, but he's not trying to hide the fact that he is a d!ck.

2010 FU4 had them and so did my 2012 VJ, hmmm...

Maybe they "knew" something was up in 2012 and started using up old stock? Yeah I know, wrong thread for speculation ;)

I thought it was well known? I thought that was one of those places known to be avoided.

It's been a while since I ordered anything from there, but I do recall, that it's kind of like the soup nazi, pay your money, shut up and wait. Never had an issue getting what I ordered though.

Well, that was easy!

Saved about 4.4 ounces, plenty to fix the neck dive!

+1 Pete. Also, nice playing Saturday night - great to see the Q5 hogging all the stage time:)

Thanks Man! Didn't see you there; it was tough playing bass while the Bruins were in overtime against Chicago on a 10' tv behind me, for sure!

FYI- the bass (as you know was my Q5), the amp was the Genz Benz Shuttle 9.0 and the cab was the Genz Benz NX-212T. You asked me earlier about a lighter rig, and that one certainly fits.

Thanks for coming out!

Excellent! I was going to say earlier when you first asked about the weight difference that I thought they were about a third lighter, but didn't want to venture an actual figure as I didn't have a scale to back it up with real data - but I guess my "guess" was about right.

So you say plenty to fix the dive, did it?

That is certainly enough to make a different. I might have to move changing the tuners up a notch on the priority scale!

If weight or neck dive are a concern, it's a no-brainer, go for it!

Masshole Nation!

NICE!

Good guess, you're right on.
It definitely fixed the neck dive. :hyper:

I tried the suede-backed strap because, although weight is a consideration, the bass was not heavy to begin with, probably the initial cause of the neck dive being a light body/heavy tuners. I could not stand the grabbiness of the new strap.

I'm back to my favorite leather-backed Levy's MSS80 strap and I could not be happier!

Awesome! Glad to hear it.

Thanks for your help!

I've never really paid too much attention to neck dive until you guys started talking about changing tuners but think I'll go for the change by years end. I don't have enough for another Mod or custom Mod I wanted but changing tuners I could afford!

For some guys, neck dive doesn't bother them, but it felt like I was fighting to keep the bass in a good position playing live. It didn't help that one of my bands just replaced our drummer, so the sueded backed strap, although helpful, was uncomfortable and screwing up my shirt swinging the bass around to cue the drummer! So now the bass is lighter overall and there is no neck dive.

Just ordered a set of replacement tuners for my Q5. Gonna do some July maintenance on the bass - new nut, replace two pots, replace the tuners, and clean up the finish.

What kind of nut material are you thinking?

How do you plan on cleaning up the finish?
