Modulus Mob

haha. And it looks better? I have never cleaned my fretboard other than just wiping it with a cloth...need to do that I guess.

It does look better. It's more black and nice. When you wipe it with a cloth, you just move the sweat-dirt-moisture around, you don't really get it of. The WD-40 cleans the dirt-sweat of the board, and makes it shiny clean :)
And BTW, is Phenolic some sort of wood or is it some kind of other material?

I never knew this but WD40 is made from fish oil!! found out on how it's made...

I use turtle wax on my fingerboard.. Phenolic can stand a lot. That's what Modulus said to use on the body so must be good for the finger board.

I've known Joe Perman since '93 and he told me that you use WD-40 to clean and moisturize phenolic fingerboards, put it on and rub it in on your fingerboard really good and then go back with a paper towel and rub off the excess really good and then put the strings back on.

Most just use a hosting site like Photobucket to upload their images to. Then copy and paste the "IMG" links into a post here. There is a way to upload directly to TB though - go to "Go Advanced" below the quick reply box at the bottom then to "Manage Attachments" under the reply box in that screen. There is a limit to the size of the image and the total amount of images you can upload this way though.

Here's a photo.

I might just need a tip here;
My FU is in satin black, you know it's matte, and it gets scratches and marks rather easily. There are some spots where it's getting more shiny, because my hand has been there much.

I am very new to this finish, and I don't really know how to keep preventing it from unnecessary scratches and that, other than that I shouldn't wear something with zippers.

Do you know a tip to make it look clean? I mean Flea for example and his new bass, it doesn't even look that he has any noticeable marks on his bass. Not even at the slap area...

Edit: Ok I am going to change my question:
What is the best way to clean a bass, that has a matt finish?

Hey all, looking for Bart-equipped Modulus players to weigh in here: does anyone know the specific model that Modulus used in their Quantum basses (Q5, specifically)?

As a few of you on here know, I'm planning on switching out my EMG DC40's and BQC pre (which will soon be for sale if anyone is interested), and I think I've settled on Bart soapbars and an Aggie OBP-3 to replace them. I'd like to use the same model that Modulus has traditionally installed in their basses, as I really think that they complement the instrument nicely, and bring a big sense of warmth and roundness that, to me, seem a bit lacking in the EMGs I currently have...

Thanks sleepy - I loved my EMGs at first, no doubt. I've also been chasing the tone of one of my favorite bassists these last few years (guess who), but ultimately realized that the only tone I should be chasing is my own. My style is nothing like his, and my band sounds nothing like his, so it makes much more sense to be developing my own voice on the instrument.

That said, if anyone here was ever curious, I heard back from Joe this evening and he said that Modulus used Bartolini M45C's in their 5 string Quantum basses. I'm curious about the quad coils, but will probably just go with the tried and true model on this one...

Ben, as I've said in the past, you are more than welcome to try out my (now 2) Q5's; both equipped with Bart pups. My older Q has Bart / Bart and my 25th Anniv. has Aggie OB-3 / Bart. Hit me up anytime if you would like to take them for a test drive (I have plenty of Roscoes and a fun Ernie Ball to ease my pain in the meantime!).

You just need to keep in mind that the 25th Anniversary is only on loan to you from me....until I pay you for it. :D

JF, I understand. I love Gordos tone, but for my personal taste I love the tone I get with my Q5 (EMGs), Ampeg SVP-CL, Ampeg SVP-1600, Ampeg SVT610-AV. It sounds great and I can dial in the cleanest of clean tones. I am not a grit/dirt/fuzz guy at all so it is the perfect combination for me. I owned 2 of the SVP-CLs and sold them....just had to chance to pick one back up and did. This one isn't leaving. Headroom for days, power for days, thump, clarity....what else do I need? The only thing I need really is the 25th Anniversary Modulus that I loaned BigSlapper.......:hiding:
