Id say anything satin (pickups, finishes, etc) are bound to become "glossy" due to finger oils and playing smoothing it to a shine. To avoid bucket rash I think the only thing you can do is get some sort of film or back protector and stick it to the back, or just cover up your belt with a rag.
If you want to buff down shiny areas of a satin finish I would say a real fine scotchbrite pad should do the trick

I might just need a tip here;
My FU is in satin black, you know it's matte, and it gets scratches and marks rather easily. There are some spots where it's getting more shiny, because my hand has been there much.
I am very new to this finish, and I don't really know how to keep preventing it from unnecessary scratches and that, other than that I shouldn't wear something with zippers.
Do you know a tip to make it look clean? I mean Flea for example and his new bass, it doesn't even look that he has any noticeable marks on his bass. Not even at the slap area...
Edit: Ok I am going to change my question:
What is the best way to clean a bass, that has a matt finish?
