Modulus Mob

For me it's not about who's wrong or right.

If kat's don't agree with me so what,it doesn't have to come down to bashing.

Well, I don't care who's right or wrong. But I am curious what the heck happened. You seemed to have insider information and laid some heavy vibe on us about it and how ignorant we all were in thinking that they were going out of business. So, I don't care who was right or who was wrong, but what the heck happened? It's not like there is anything left to protect at this point. I was on the verge of sending my TBX back to them to get work done when it all went pear shaped and I have to admit to a certain amount of disappointment that they are gone. I love their basses. I won't be selling mine and I'm not interested in bashing.

Notice that I am and always have used my own name. I'm not hiding behind anything, it's all out there for the world to see.

I don't know what you were looking at, but here's the one I have posted before. It is a satin finish (aka matte).

And just for proof of that none of my other satin finishes have issues:

Apologies for the sojourn away from our normal programming with other brands fellow mobsters.

Cool, I was exactly looking for that picture.
And I think that the reason that mine is getting some wears, is because of my right-hand placement. I think my hand has been pressing on the finish, and then giving the result of a more shiny finish.

Where is the bashing? As the other poster said you have insider information that most other users on TB don't have and, seemingly, based on that information you said they were not out of business. That is something that the Modulus fans would be interested in knowing / hearing about and or receiving an update on. As you said yourself, you haven't been wrong yet. That's good news for all.

And no, I'm not being sarcastic.

The other thread was closed for a good reason. Can we please either leave this subject alone or start a new thread so this one doesn't get closed, too.

+1
Just because this is internet forum, that doesn't mean folks are going to reveal everything they know.

Thanks Gents...Just a straight up VJ neck

KS I thought you would dig this...
I stained the body with very very light sealer. I like the feel of the worn body with very little finish.

That was probably my FU4 - started to sand it down as I am done with gloss finishes and was going to sand it down to the wood and just go for a natural satin finish.

Back of the body was fine - in fact I was excited as it looked like a nice flamed maple, got to the back of the upper horn and belly cut and there it was... a white material that wouldn't sand correctly.

Talked to Pat W. and he told me it was likely bondo and that it wasn't all that uncommon for manufacturers to use it on a body rather than toss it out. Said they probably intended that blank to be a natural or stain finish, but as they worked the wood a soft spot or other defect was revealed - so they filled it with bondo and painted it instead.

BTW - he did mention after he refinished it in satin black for me that Modulus did use a quality bondo :D

Just a heads up to the Mob, at 52 yrs of age an old injury to my pinky has caused problems with my playing my new(used) Q6, along with arthritis. So I am selling/trading it.
Please take a look below in my signature if you are interested. I am not exaggerating when i say it is the sweetest Modulus I have ever played. I have owned 2 Q5's and a Q6 before this one. The Chechen fingerboard is indescribable.
