Modulus Mob

I got my Q6SS yesterday.. Seller posted it was a VG+ bass. This thing looks like it was distressed with a ball peen hammer!! EMG pickup and not Bartolini. EMG pre, not Bart. Someone put a 250K pot in the bass position with a split shaft (this one is obvious). There is a weird Preamp in there with 2 dip switches on the board.. No real clue as to what that might be. It was listed with pin marks in the finish by the heal that could not be felt, well that wasn't true at all.. Feels like I am running my hand over sandpaper.. It has a Kahler bridge on it. Not sure if Mod ever used them? It does have Modulus tuners, no truss, but the neck seems straight and comfy. It plays well, but will need a good setup. My luthier will be getting it this weekend to have at it. Back neck finish will be fixed up, set up to my liking and a proper pot installed so it will be running the way it is supposed to.. Pic's to follow and updates when I can

My luthier is really good. And because of me, he is especially good with Modulus now. Plus he is a bass player as well, so that makes it even better.
You know, Big EMG letters on the pickup should have meant that the pickup was an EMG. Why would a Ebay seller lie about that?? They stated that they had played it, so how could they have even
come close to not noticing that the rear knob didn't really work and was wobbly!! Yes, they secured the set screw to the split shaft spline.. Just terrible. Of course, it is just as bad as my Q5 that I bought from GC that was actually a Q5SS severely modded to a Q5 with 2 Bart's in it and a big plastic plate where the original p'up was!! Man I could write a book about these things...

Seller just got back with me. He was shocked with what I had told him. He stated he did not sell many basses!! He is in a music store!! MG, do these people really think we are that stupid?? Anyway, Shipping and tax refund should be able to put the bass right with my luthier. I will have to see how this EMG thing will work on a Mod. Never had EMG's in a Mod. Since I was signed by EMG about 15 years ago, I have several custom EMG basses so I am ok with their sound. Another project I didn't want, but hey, it's a Modulus

Modulus did use Kahler bridges; my '93 Q6 TBX has one, and it's definitely original as the screw pattern for these is unique, not even close to any other bridge I've ever seen. They're a pain to set up, but once you've got it dialed in they're rock-solid.

Sounds like your preamp is an EMG two band (BTS/BTC); the DIP switches change the frequency center of the treble EQ.

As I have been doing more researching on it, I am seeing that the Kahler bridge is original (My 6 string is a 1993) and so are at least some of the parts of the electronics. Again, that 250K pot is just not at all correct (I can only assume), but with the front 2 pots being solid shaft why would the rear one (From the factory) have a split shaft?? I can't wait to get her set up and corrected and run through my amp rig.
