Modulus Mob

I didn't really notice that Gotoh has 2 different tuner knob shapes until this weekend. I got a Hipshot GB7 thru a trade on here and it matches my Spector (which I got it for) but not my Modulus. My Mod does have res-o-lites on it though, so maybe that's why?

Bestbassgear.com only has the one shape...

Also, iriegnome, did you see the walnut Q5 fretless in the classifieds (not mine, no affiliation)?

Or has been said, maybe a new body from warmoth or somewhere else? that could kill two birds with one stone, as you could get the weight and the finish you want... plenty of options...

Thanks for the replies. Upon reflection, I'm thinking of taking everyone's advice and just getting a whole new body. I'll get the colour I want, a cutaway to hit the top frets more easily (not that I do that very much) and even drop in new pickups and everything. I'm thinking Alder for a sort of standard P-bass on 'roids tone that can go from super aggressive rock to dub.

So: does anyone have experience with the Modulus necks and:

a) a traditional passive alnico P-bass pickup or
b) G&L's MFD designs? (either P or soapbar)

I'm thinking I'll go passive since I use effects so much often. The bassstar sounds great with modulation and overdrive but the EMGs don't seem to play well with any kind of envelope filtering.

Hey, does anyone know when Modulus started using Modulus Graphite Products as the name?
It's a wild guess but I think it was when Geoff Gould left.

Other way around: When Geoff ran the company the instruments were marked "Modulus Graphite", and they didn't become "Modulus Guitars" until after he'd left and they moved their HQ out of SF.

I just checked mine; this is from 1988:

I dont know about "Modulus" at NAMM,but "Geoff Gould guitars/basses" might be there.
geoff mentioned on his fb page that he is attending namm and would bring the 3-tone sunburst recently built (that is if it doesn't sell in the next few weeks).

so will anyone here be attending this year's namm festivities? if so, can you post any pix of the latest offerings from the modulus and g. gould booths?

haven't been to a namm show in ages. do miss running into various heroes. getting to chat up george duke (r.i.p.) for a long minute and getting tongue-tied when andy summers passed me by... 8p

of course the highlight each year was to see what the gemini booth cooked up. yeah, mix half-naked women with turntables? who knew!?!
