Yea they are dodgy. It's kind of disappointing. I mean here's Joe Perman and tonyTony, like shining Knights to save the company, and now they drop the ball right as they started. Ridiculous.
Btw, a sweet 96 q4 with the beautiful and highly coveted (by me) blue over pink finish is on reverb. Makes me wish I didn't already have a q4.

Yea, it is super steep but it's rare too. I wouldn't wana pay it. But there's always someone.
Yeah, I definitely think the price is justifiable for what it is, especially when compared to what it would probably cost new at this point. I just could never afford it.
It is offensive that nobody seems to be trying to get this brand back on track. Offering one offs at insane prices is not "on track". Modulus were always a killer mid/high end production bass. The world needs them in the $3k new range.

I agree. It's tough to be happy with the price range and level of service offered by planetbass. I know you can email them about purchases and they will get back to you. But it's all super expensive and I'm not sure how how quickly you'll get one made. Or how the customer service will be, once you've got your new bass.
I could not agree more. When they went back into production I got a price quote for a Q5 wide space with standard specs and it was over 5K. That is way too steep. Its so sad to see
Why can geoff gould build basses for half that price and still be more active on social media? Its sad for sure.
Geoff does not own a music store. He is a bass manufacturer only (I know only!!) He does not run a store. He does not sell direct. Planet Bass is a store. They deal in multiple lines. I almost think of Modulus as a side line for them. They make them well and with care for sure, however, it is not a main priority. Geoff still works within what he does best. 100% quality crazy cool instruments and he has been doing it for a very long time. The guys at PB are still just starting out and feeling their way through it. They probably have big start up costs that need to go into pricing the instruments. Geoff does not have those costs any longer.

Having both is so very choice. I have one of each (plus others)! I think the moddy neck makes for the sweetest sounding jazz bass around. If you're ever looking for that tone, this is about as cheap as they come. Plus that color is great.I'm honestly just waiting for iriegnome to see the post, he may hate me for "making him" have to buy another one.
Hah! Part of how I rationalized buying the Q4 was that I said it would be my last big bass related purchase for a while! I guess I might not stick to that resolution as much as I would have hoped
What I'd really love to do at some point though is to get a Moddy neck and make a FU shaped body with Rickenbacker pickups and positioning. Aside from Moduli, Ricks are probably my favorite basses, so I feel like it'd be pretty sick.
